In the event that Magnus shows up, I did some statistical analysis on the comments made by male vs. female readers in the Open Threads for the last five days. I could list all of the numbers if you would like, but the final tally was that females made up 19% of the the comments.
So just how do you classify in a world where names and/or avatars may be sexually misleading? With all his misogynist comments, Scott M may in fact be a self-loathing lady. Maybe not, but it still could skew your numbers more favorably in the female column.
True, but since most of the comments are made by regulars, I feel fairly confident that we know who is who (er, what). And, since there will not be a test later, I was not super concerned about scientific accuracy.
Now that we are over halfway into the first month of the new year, I will divulge to you that my New Year’s resolution was to be a kinder, gentler Colonel. So please don’t be too amazed when and if, which is very unlikely I treat you better than last year!
A little morning wake up call to voters from Jack Wheeler on Newt Gingrich…
Here is what Jack Wheeler said about Newt. “I am, quite frankly, in a state of shock at the stupidity of support for him. He is a mean, insufferable, arrogant, pompous Rockefeller Republican, an ethanol-subsidizing global-warming crony-capitalist ludicrously hypocritical pretend conservative.”
Jack Wheeler is the man behind the Reagan Doctrine….
You can go to hell Skip! Get it?! Understand….he has the money and the organization..too badd bboooo hoo for you….cause guess what? If Newter doesn’t win SC he has said he’s done. So is Santorum why??? WHYY??? Because its MONEY OK?! OK??? In fact sweetie…Perry’s getting the task force ready for Florida…so…sorry…hate to break it to you…its all about money…the Governor got 17 million and has added lots more. Newt is a million in the hole and Santorum is barely treading water….. But hey you believe whatever the dc beltway shills and a smirk STRAW poll with no controls says OK? Cling to your Newter…because after SC he is done.
Morris Lindsey
“She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife. And besides, she has cancer.” – Newt, on his first wife.
“I don’t want him to be president and I don’t think he should be.” – Newt’s wife Marianne.
“She [Callista] is the single most self-centered person I’ve run into in politics—it’s all about her. They do these movies together, and she does a word count: she has… to have the same number of words on camera as he does or they have to reshoot. …And Callista did not want him to run for President. That’s why he had to buy her so much damn jewelry.” – Will Rogers, Gingrich’s Iowa strategist until he quit in May, 2011
“If the country today were to move to the left, Newt would sense it before it started happening and lead the way.” – Dot Crews, his campaign scheduler throughout the 1970s.
“It doesn’t matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.” – Newt.
And the fact that Erick Erickson, who introduced Perry at Red State Gathering for his announcement to run for President thinks he should drop and endorse Gingrich?
Mr. Erickson also reminds us Gingrich wrote the introduction to Perry’s book, Fed Up. Exactly how many last place finishes does it take for Perry to get the idea? He is done, finito, arrivederci…
The only reason I kinda hope he stays in and wins is so I don’t have to read your complaining.
So, over his cereal this morning, my son just asked me, “Have you ever been the president of any countries?” I said no. He said, “Why not? You decided not to apply for the job?”
Not a huge surprise that Obama is set to officially decline the permit to build the Keystone pipeline, despite the recommendations from his own committee.
Besides all that, I posted a link last week that shows the House is about ready to take that decision away from him anyway. Obviously they don’t trust “his worship” anymore than we do!
Its Congress’ own fault for abdicating so much of their law making power to mindless bureaucracies. The case here is such a flagrant violation of rights that even the lefties cannot deny. Or I should say, the EPA’s reasoning is so flawed and against our basic Constitutional protections that it cannot be denied.
There’s one more thing… one needs to read down to the end of the article. The House & Senate are both working to take this out of Obama’s hands. The link I posted last week was correct, and I just got off the phone with Rep. Joe Heck’s office in DC and they are working to get this pipeline a done deal.
I gotta say, I’m getting a kick out of watching liberals froth at the mouth over SOPA, considering that it’s being pushed by the liberal Democrats they voted for like Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, etc. and being opposed by those eeevil Tea Party conservatives like Marco Rubio.
I get e-mails either way… people don’t like Wapple because ti strips video and images or it’s not in a smaller format. You people who read us on mobile devices figure it out and get back to me with a consensus.
On my Droid, it worked fine before Wapple, with no apparent difference except the Wapple logos after you got Wapple. But now the layout is exactly like it is here on Windows. I can enlarge it, but there are no places to push for “previous” “next” or “home.” Totally impossible to navigate.
Love Master and Commander the movie, really need to get around to the book sometime. Pretty sure I can afford that best price of a penny, too …
Well, I’d be willing to give the book a go. It can’t be any worse than the move
The Aubrey–Maturin series are generally considered modern classics and they’re roundly praised. You might enjoy them.
I like them. The movie is actually based on two of the books. I liked the movie too.
Well played, sir, but I hope you didn’t think it’d be the last of things …
+ $12.95 for shipping and handling.
Something which should fascinate Floyd.
Two days late Marcoe
Always on top of those types of stories, are you?
Better that than to be on the bottom of them.
You snooze, you lose!
“Today is Michelle Obama’s birthday. In celebration, let’s all eat tasteless organic slop.” -Ben Shapiro
Personally, I’m going to pig out on Hostess pastries just to tick her off!
Updates here and here on SOPA.
Happy coffee & krullers! Celebrating this with a plate ‘o bacon as well!
Happy Coffee to you too!

Made up, or fabricated? Explain!
Neither, kinder and gentler (HA!) Fritz.
Friday – 84 total comments/19 by women = 23%
Saturday – 23/2 = 9%
Sunday – 21/5 = 24%
Monday – 89/19 = 21%
Tuesday – 123/25 = 20%
And averaging the percentages, you have 19.4%
So just how do you classify in a world where names and/or avatars may be sexually misleading? With all his misogynist comments, Scott M may in fact be a self-loathing lady. Maybe not, but it still could skew your numbers more favorably in the female column.
True, but since most of the comments are made by regulars, I feel fairly confident that we know who is who (er, what). And, since there will not be a test later, I was not super concerned about scientific accuracy.
Who are you calling regular? I’ll have you know I haven’t been regular in years.
“I was not super concerned about scientific accuracy.”…..Democrat!
First a racist,then a misogynist…starting to feel like a heel.
You spout, we decide.
Scott! You have a reply in the right place – excellent!!
And that from a banana loving biped with calloused knuckles and in need of a major shave!
Yeah; but, how many WORDS were in those comments? That’s what really counts.
Seriously?! There is no pleasing some of YOU (males) people!
Men want two things, beer and women. We get grumpy without one or the other and especially without both. That’s the story and I’m sticking to it!
The funny, entertaining and insightful 19%.
that’s right. We are the 19%
Then there are the 80% Dudes. Add Floyd to the tally and you get 100%. Well done, Tink!
I AM the 1%.
And, I would add, quirky!
Did someone say quirky?
Yes I did. Are we dressing Tink again today?
And how come we never see her from the waist up?
It’s the frosting Magnus, the frosting!
I see Herr Commandant is reading ahead in the script…
Just trying to focus!
Did someone say frosting?
NSFW!

Yes, but only decaffeinated, Diet variety.
Der Fuhrer is back. And this time, no more Mr. Niceguy.
Happy birthday to the great Cary Grant, the hilarious Jason Segel, and the incomparable Kevin Costner.
the incomparable Kevin Costner
Who has shown us, in film after film, that nobody plays Kevin Costner better.
I see your otherwise applicable statement and raise you a Perfect World.
And I’ll further raise you an Upside of Anger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ICFqpYx_Sk
I’ll raise you a Postman in a Waterworld!
Well, see, now you just brought it back to Rufus being correct … not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Nothing wrong, except the whole scenario is an oxymoron.
Aside from it not being true, you mean?
Well, I did like Field of Dreams and Dances With Wolves.
And The Midnight Star was/is a pretty nice place. Haven’t been there for awhile, tho.
He was great in The Big Chill.
It’s the most lifelike I’ve ever seen him.

Be realistic. Perry is done. He’s in third place in Texas.
http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/01/romney-dewhurst-lead-in-texas.html
Santorum likely doesn’t have the steam to carry through and Paul is not going to garner enough support no matter how passionate his advocates are.
Its going to be Gingrich vs. Romney. Better get used to it.
You can go to hell Skip! Get it?! Understand….he has the money and the organization..too badd bboooo hoo for you….cause guess what? If Newter doesn’t win SC he has said he’s done. You take so much abuse . . .
So, over his cereal this morning, my son just asked me, “Have you ever been the president of any countries?” I said no. He said, “Why not? You decided not to apply for the job?”
Because being his mommy was WAYYYYYY more important! *sniff!*
Totally adorable.
How is the lovely Ms. Wankette this morning?
She’s flattered to be noticed by a man in a uniform!
Hey! What am I? Chopped liver?
An officer’s uniform.
OK. FINE!!
How about a field promotion to Sgt, Major?
Hmm. What are the perks?
Wimmins!
That is pretty good.
Not a huge surprise that Obama is set to officially decline the permit to build the Keystone pipeline, despite the recommendations from his own committee.
He just doesn’t give two hoots in hell whether any of us can afford to drive or heat our homes again, does he?

Curious to hear what our resident scientist-guy (Rich) thinks of the Sackett v EPA case before the SCOTUS.
Hell, I’m curious to know what any of you think. I can’t believe Breyer spanked the EPA guys during questioning!
http://hotair.com/archives/2012/01/18/audio-justice-alito-oddly-unimpressed-with-epa-procedures/
It sounds to me that the EPA pooped their pants on this case. They finally came up against someone who wasn’t going to sit by and take the EPA’s crap!

Dirty little bastard.
Floyd, oh Floyd…3D isn’t navigable on my Droid. Just thought I’d give you a heads up. It is very small and laid out just like on my computer.
I get e-mails either way… people don’t like Wapple because ti strips video and images or it’s not in a smaller format. You people who read us on mobile devices figure it out and get back to me with a consensus.

How well does it work on an iPhone? I don’t have one; but, sure would like to play around with one.
I would assume i-Phone and Droid would be similar.
You know what happens when you assume?
I assume you’ll tell me?
“I don’t have one; but, sure would like to play around with one.” TWSS.
I had to check back above to make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding you!
The explosion you heard was my petard going off.
