If you live in LA County don’t throw a Frisbee or a football on the beach, unless you’ve got $1000 you don’t need.
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — When you head down to the beach for a little fun this summer, county officials want you to leave the pigskin at home.
The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines to up to $1,000 for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County.
In passing the 37-page ordinance on Tuesday, officials sought to outline responsibilities for law enforcement and other public agencies while also providing clarification on beach-goer activities that could potentially disrupt or even injure the public.
The updated rules now prohibit “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
If you wish to read the entire depressing article it’s right HERE. The nanny state brought to you by do-gooder busy-bodies everywhere. At least in Texas you can not only throw a football you can still drive your car on the beach.

Well, this mucks up plans for a Baywatch reboot!
I loved being in San Diego years ago for 4 days, but even then, I couldn’t help but notice that there was a sign about every 2 feet outlining what was and wasn’t (there were way more of these) allowed in the area. I felt very paranoid about following all the rules. I can’t imagine living like that, as incredibly beautiful as it was.
It depends on where you go… the beach isn’t like the park… there’s limited space. That being said… the LA ordinance is ridiculous and seeing as we go to OC beaches anyway They can suck it… unless all of the LA beach riff raff heads south to the good beaches.
As usual with nanny-staters… this is an over-reaction to a real problem which would best be handled by enforcing current rules on public order, etc. I would also add this that asking someone to not throw a ball near you or your baby isn’t as easy as it used to be… the MS-13 gang banger won’t move and then won’t let it drop and he’s loaded for bear.
Letting savages into your country ruins it for everyone — and by savages I mean criminals.
“No one’s allowed to smoke,
Or tell a dirty joke,
And whistling is forbidden.
If chewing gum is chewed,
The chewer is pursued,
And in the hoosegow hidden.”
“If any form of pleasure is exhibited
Report to me and it shall be prohibited!
I’ll put my foot down! So shall it be!
This is the Land of the Free!”

Ironic considering how many people in LA want a football team to return to the city. By “many people” I of course mean the very few who would actually support a team for more than a couple years.
Were the LA Rams a football team?
Yes, they were and are but now reside in St. Louis.
Even managed to play in a Super Bowl while in LA (Anaheim), though it did take their new digs in St. Louis before winning one.
Titans/Oilers, still as many Super Bowl wins as the Bills and Vikings.
Beachballs and volleyballs are exempted? WTF? A volleyball can be a deadly missile in the hands of a flat chested, bikini wearing, rocket arm babe. And beachballs – we’ve seen the utter chaos that ensues when one of those it let loose inside of a stadium – think of the horror if one got loose on the beach.
Notice that the 39 pages don’t mention anything about not dropping free, government supplied syringes on the beach. Nothing about being stoned out of your mind on ‘medical’ marijuana and clobbering someone.
Stupid f***ing state. It’s a shame so many good people are living in such a lunatic asylum.
S*T*O*O*P*I*D
Ubiqitous possession of fire arms would have made this law unnecessary. See Outlaw’s comment abut Texas, above.
Beach volleyball!

That looks like jailbait, Scott!
For those who haven’t already, be sure to check out the Bing homepage. Nary a frisbee or football in sight.
And my L.A. friends wonder why I fly home to NC every summer to hang out at Wrightsville Beach.
The beaches here are dirty, gang-infested, no-fun zones.
Democracy, and by that I mean ruled by democrats. Stay home and watch TV. They’ll tell you everything you need to know from there.
Another example of how the nanny state criminalizes the behaviors of the law-abiding. Does anyone really believe that a bunch of large, hairy thugs will be fined for throwing a football? Nope, the beach police won’t confront them, just the schmuck with his family unaware of that throwing something at the beach is gross violation against civilized behavior.
These are the laws that civil disobedience are made for. Too bad I don’t have to guts to be the first to try and force the issue.
You can still drive on the beach in Florida too.
