First!
Magnus will be around with breakfast shortly…
Sorry, but I’ve got your breakfast. Coffee, krullers, and this week only, tons of free pigmeat in the form of bacon and Jimmy Dean sausage!!!
You read my mind, Herr Kommondant!
COFFEE! Coffee….makes me smile. Truly!
I just finished making homemade biscuits and sausage gravy if anyone wants some. I did a fine job if I do say so myself.
Coffee too.
Sorry Doc, I read Rufus’ and not yours. We can lump it all together and have an old style Roman food orgy!
Anybody got grits?
Sorry, no. Never touch the stuff.
You and “The Duke” make a mighty cute couple!
Thanks, Magnus. That’s me hero worshiping at the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Like the photo..a lot!
Ain’t he somethin’?
Growr!
He shore is, Pilgrim!
I’ll whip up a batch!
Thanks, Goozer – love “em.
Two eggs sunny and runny, grits on top and then all mixed up with a little butter and pepper, a few strips of bacon, and OJ…mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Someone’s over his illness…
Almost…but I’d have to be comatose to turn down a breakfast like that!
Make sure the eggs are over-medium and I, for one, am there.
As you wish, Tink!
You mix your grits with orange juice?
No, but I’ll cut up some cardboard boxes and throw them in some boiling water…should taste about the same.
Very perceptive as to my reason for not liking them, Jimmy!
JimmyC and fritz – all y’all got no taste.
Maybe. It’s the same taste that keeps me from eating blackeyed peas on New Years. I’ve got plenty of dirt in my side yard to eat and I don’t have to cook it.
Grits are awesome. -fritz- I hope you cook the “hot” style of Jimmy Dean’s, you can see the little bits of red pepper in it, also awesome.
Hot…yupper! Only way to go.
Maybe they’d taste better if they wore a thick coat of gravy!
Thanks for the coffee, boys, I surely need it. And the biscuits sound like a treat.
I wondered if anyone would see the opportunity to be had from Jimmy Dean sausage!
Such as . . . ?
???
SAUSAGE GRAVY, FOLKS, SAUSAGE GRAVY!! Geez, tough crowd!
They’re all old, Magnus. There’s a reason I’ve never heard of any of the music, or know any of the famous people everyone else seems to know. Kit and I are the young ones in a cultural wasteland.
HEY. Are you TRYING to insult me here?
Tink, you’re like a fine wine, you just get better over time. That and too much time spent with you causes men to feel light headed and woozy
No Doc, she’s more like a fine whine!!!
An excellent retort, mine Colonel!
Doc is back in my good graces (very nicely played, my good man) once again. Fritz, on the other hand, is back on the crap list.
Darn! I never knew I was off that list!
Well, it only has one name.
Sorry Magnus…lapses occur sometimes!
Thanks for the reminder to snag “Ghost Rider,” Floyd. Heard nothing but great things about it, but always forget to buy. Nice Valentine’s Day addendum for Peart-loving lady known as “mi-,” too.
Will you buy it and will you read it?
That’s your bag, baby. I have bought it. I will receive it. I will then hand it to my wife. She will read it. She will give to me. I will make it about 15-20 pages. Book will collect dust.
Hey, that’s how zoon and I do it!
Couldn’t have said it better: http://daybydaycartoon.com/
Ouch. Nice to see the President and Carney only want the little people to use the USPS, though.
Very good!
Lunch!
http://whowhatwerewolf.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/pepperoni-three.jpg
Even supper!
And you too can be a Victim of Society!
http://www.city-journal.org/2012/22_1_california-demographics.html
Not just CA. We’ve got a large area of NE Las Vegas that looks like a slum in any Mexican border town. The only thing missing is the burros!
A friend owns a small apartment building there and I helped him clean up one of the vacated units. Very depressing, but there was a great place to grab breakfast nearby.
Si!
Boy, the tenants in that place are a motley crew.
This is revolting:
http://www.mycentraljersey.com/article/20120216/NJNEWS/302160012/Christie-defends-half-staff-order-after-Whitney-Houston-s-death
Could someone explain what Whitney Houston did for New Jersey?
Sinatra didn’t get a half-mast flag. I like Christie on many issues, but boy’s done pop culture loco for this move (and Clarence Clemons’ last year).
They can say what they want, it doesn’t mean you have to lower your flag even if you live there. Yeah, I agree it’s too much but he is after all a politician.
A bigger travesty IMO is the naming of a USN ship the USS Giffords and even worse the USS Murtha which was done recently…so pick and choose your battles if you try and fight everything you’ll win nothing and just come off as a bitter complainer.
I hear that Oscar Meyer named one of their wiener-mobiles the “Barney’s Frank!”
… AND STAY OFF MY LAWN!!
I loved her voice, but don’t we usually save the half staffed flag for fallen heroes and dignitaries? I like Christie, but this, as you say, is revolting.
I know we’re in a recession and all, but how much is horse feed going for these days, anyway? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/02/16/starving-horses-found-at-lottery-winners-ranch/
Just goes to show you, all the money in the world can’t buy class.
No excuses, period. In the way of offering more knowledge, ethanol subsidies have driven up feed prices to Ass-tronomical levels, quadrupling in about a dozen years now. If gas prices had quadrupled in the same period, we would paying about $ 7 a gallon now. It is not possible to feed animals with these bulk feeds and make in any money. My farm loses money every year, but I, currently, have 30 foraging meat sources as insurance against the end of civilization as we know it. When the supermarket closes, I will still be eating. And you can see in the goat science post below, they are cute.
This cannot be true. Congress is responsible for ethanol subsidies and they never do anything that results in the opposite of their intent. I think you made this up.
We report, you decide…..and, yes, Megyn Kelly is still hot!
At the same time, LGH, the number of gas stations that sell E85 in Vegas has shrunk by about 75%. Somebody’s getting rich!
I don’t know who you mean
Interesting PDF. Thanks.
Horse feed has been going up, but if you can’t afford it, get rid of the horses one way or the other. Worst case scenario, they’re better off not suffering. Best case scenario, find someone who will take care of them. Animal cruelty is never cool.
…unless you’re kicking your roommates cat across the room for scratching your favorite chair up. But cats don’t count as real animals anyway.
That’s why I said first, no excuses period. And the price of hay in that same period has not even doubled, so double the no excuses. If one falls on hard times and can’t feed nor sell nor otherwise dispose of one’s livestock, there should be no doubt about how to relieve the animals suffering. It’s a damn shame, to do that, but it’s a far cry from the criminal stupidity of starving good and faithful servants.
Careful Doc, No One In Particular might be lurking and offended by your lack of feline appreciation.
Tink is right, Doc. (TWSS) There was blood in the streets
That is the only person (“no one in particular”) I know of who has been permanently pissed at something I said or wrote…
There was that one time you called me an, “upstart…”
Haha, I remember that. Good times.
I still have no problem with outdoor farm cats, just for the record.
Alf always had the right idea!

My comment about the price of horse feed was meant as sarcasm, Doc. The horses’ owner was a $40 millon lottery winner, so he truly had no fracking excuse.
To jump on a tangent, lottery winners are a great microcosm of the pros and cons of “spreading the wealth.” The majority of folks of meager means who win a lottery windfall end up squandering it. The majority of folks with a good fiscal balance sheet who win a lottery windfall end up utilizing it for decades.
A certain percentage of the population simply have badluck, expensive health issues, etc., but there are a lot of people who are poor because they do not know how to acquire and retain wealth. If you give the latter group millions of dollars they will demonstrate their ineptitude.
Better not show this story to my mom.
She is a BIG animal lover.
She would kill him by, well, think what Willow did to Warren Mears in Buffy. “Bored now?”
That scene gave me nightmares. And yeah, if this a-hole got the Warren treatment, I doubt many people would complain.
I guess I need to brush up on my Buffology, cause I’m in the dark here. But from what you’re saying Jimmy, maybe, I’m better off not knowing.
Willow flays the guy who killed her girlfriend.
I know, I was just agreeing with you in a way. Right now I’m just waiting on Steph come come and tell us all the different ways she’s planning on killing the guy in the story.
I actually haven’t gotten that far in the show, I just knew about it and looked up the clip.
By the way, I just finished the musical episode.
Of course, Spike had the best lines:
“I hope she fries,
I’m free if that bitch dies.
I better help her out.”
and
“Bugger this.”
Looked up the clip solely to post it here.
I stopped watching at the musical. I figured nothing could top that and I was afraid of another season like the one with army guys. Good gracious that season was bad.
It got MUCH better once Riley was gone.
Definitely. I wasn’t a big fan of the show in general, but the last couple of seasons were excellent.
Season 3 was great. Season 4, meh, though the “Silent” episode was pretty good. Season 5 was amazing and Glory was an awesome villain.
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2012/02/13/dick-morris-accuses-george-stephanopoulos-being-paid-democratic-hitma
I’m not normally a fan of conspiracy but Dick Morris was saying something interesting on Fox. Suggesting George Stephanopoulos is a ‘Paid Democratic Hitman’, in relation to the recent contraception debacle by Obama.
If anyone watched the January debate in NH, it was extremely puzzling why Stephanopoulos spent such an inordinate amount of time talking about if the candidates thought states could ban contraception. Even the candidates seemed confused and I cannot remember who but one of them eventually confronted George as to why they were wasting their time talking about it.
Now, if you of the conspiracy minded, it might make more sense. In that Stephanopoulos was setting down the primer to gauge Obama’s potential opponents on how to attack them, knowing this “rule” was coming soon. Likely? Not really no but it definitely raised my eyebrow.
I don’t like Morris. His “ideals” seem to be on sale to the highest bidder, but I did see that debate and the question was very bizarre. It’s a shame none of the candidates was quick enough on his or her feet to simply state, “There is no pending legislation involving this topic at all, nor is it reasonable to assume any legislation on this subject would come up on my term. On the very remote chance something like this did cross my desk I’d veto it on the basis that it has nothing to do with the enumerated powers and is, therefore, outside of the purview of the federal legislature.”
I do agree that with hindsight Stephanopoulis’ motives are worth questioning.
I obviously respect Morris for being someone who got his head removed from his behind when it comes to politics — and I’d love to be wrong here — but if I’ve learned one thing from watching him on Fox for the last few years, his predictions are to be trusted about as much as Threedonia’s resident military wife bully’s.
I don’t think Morris got his head out of his arse. I think he has a vendetta against Hillary Clinton so the enemy of his enemy became his friend. My guess is, if MSNBC came courting with more money than Roger Ailes Morris would be on Ed Schult’z show tomorrow championing the other team.
I’ll buy that Clinton theory, 100%.
Stay away from Fort Marcy Park………..
Exiciting Goat Science
Sleep soundly tonight, science never rests!
We have a Demagogue and what we really need is a Leader
The Thorium-Based Molten Salt Reactor needs to be developed and not by China. Some one needs to get on the soapbox for this.
Interesting. I read about it at the Thorium Energy Alliance site. 1/2 cent of Thorium fuels one Americn’s life. That’s pretty impressive. So is the fact that Thorium is an abundant source, and easily found. Here’s the catch, as I see it: When “they” were beating the drum for nuclear power, a few decades back, one of the catchphrases that stuck was that a nuclear power plant would generate power “too cheap to meter.” Then, the Marxists became involved, alarmed that cheap or free energy would add fuel to the capitalistic fire, which in turn, would make the dying embers of their centrally controlled economy look even worse.
I’d wait to hear what Odin thinks of it first. I don’t want to be on any side that mistreats his son.
Looking at BigHollywood threads, I’ve learned that praising the LORD OF THE RINGS films in the presence of Leo Grin is putting one’s lift at risk.
Seriously, the guy goes into obnoxious fanboy mode whenever someone disagrees with his assessment of the LORD OF THE RINGS films.
Big Hollywood — Just say no … to anything which doesn’t bear the Christian Toto label.
Leo Grin is a decent writer, and his stuff on the Tolkein fantasy vs modern nihilistic fantasy was pretty good, as well as some of his “Veiled Chamber” stuff.
It’s just he tends to go into “angry nerd” mode on the LOTR movies.
It’s rather off-putting, especially since there is a “if you disagree with me then you are not a true Tolkein fan and therefore do not know what you are talking about” ring to it.
He also compares the LOTR movies to the Star Wars prequels.
That is silly.
Tolkein did not write the LOTR movies.
Nor did he (nor Peter Jackson) bar the books from publication and demand everyone accept the new and improved version.
Obsess much?
Eh, maybe a little.
“Angry nerd mode” is also a fairly apt description.
Sheesh.
We need links as BH is no longer a favorite haunt. LOTR has Never held my attention, even after numerous attempts. Now Dune is another story altogether.
A general thing I’ve noticed reading the comments. He seems to go rather over the top in responses to praise of the films.
