First! Coffee on a timer. Krullers and bacon at the ready. I’ll be back!
0045 while technically the AM is a bit of a cheat. The only people eating breakfast right then were the drunks on their way home.
Or pizza! I always preferred military time myself. Much more concise and you don’t have that 12:01 a.m. confusion thing going on. 0001 cuts through the baloney and is what it is.
Scott to NCAA:lean over and blow yourselves…

OK, now I’m up and coffee and b’fast are served. I’ll be back.
Schwarzenegger called. He wants his catch phrase back.
Too late. He should have said something while he was still The Gubernator of, the once was, Great State of
ConfusionCalifornia! Thanks Fritzie but after today’s news I think I’ll skip food. Everything just sucks right now..
Don’t it though? Very sad news indeed!

Liberal fascism, pure and simple – Think what they tell you to think; say what they tell you to say; do what they tell you to do.
How long will this go one before people throw liberal fascism in the dustbin of history?
Never because of things like this:
Brian Faison, the university’s athletic director, said the letter should help convince skeptics of the reality of NCAA sanctions.
“We knew going in that this was a possibility, but it’s in black and white now,” Faison said. “It’s very clear what will happen.”
In other words, they were going to get their way so why even bother to resist? I heard this morning that a Rasmussen poll had a majority of Americans believe the fight over contraception is just because its an election year. About a quarter believed it was about religious liberty and another quarter women’s rights. As long as the “center” only cares about specific policy issues, they’ll never care how big government gets or the advance of liberal fascism as long as they get to live in their protected bubble. That the bubble won’t last doesn’t even cross their minds.
Fascism is liberal,Daniel.
We’ve spent 10 years of blood and treasure on this sewer…enough is enough:

Floyd,I’d say Jerry Goldsmith and Elmer Bernstein were the best film composers….getting to be a lost art.
There’s 31 days in March. I’m sure they’ll show up.
I vote for John Williams. And what’s this about a “lost art”? The best in classical music today is produced for films.
Well, granted,Daniel,I don’t go to movies much anymore, but can you top “Chinatown” or “LA Confidential”?
“can you top “Chinatown” or “LA Confidential”?” I think I can, and with more than Williams.
Gladiator, Harry Potter film scores, Chariots of Fire, Jurassic Park (the movie stank, but the music’s great), The Lord of Rings series, Edward Scissorhands (Danny Elfman creates great scores), … the list goes on and on.
And even if you don’t think they “top” Chinatown or LA Confidential, you must admit they are one equal footing.
And let’s not forget “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”, “Once Upon a Time in the West”, etc. Ennio Morricone … the guy who makes spaghetti westerns worth watching (yeah, yeah, those Eastwood & Van Cleef guys are pretty good also
)
I’m with you, Daniel. John Williams is an incredible composer. Goldsmith and Bernstein were amazing, too; but, I prefer Williams.
It could be a lost art, though. Only a few very talented people are really able to score films for fun and profit. Without the films, the music wouldn’t exist. As for symphonic music, not a lot of it is being produced.
Williams the king, no doubt, but I like what Elfman’s been bringing to the table for years. So far, so impressed with the Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross combo, too.
YES! Elfman is very good! Even before I see his name in the credit roll, his sound is distinctive enough to recognize.
Elfman is one of the best of the modern guys. Plus he’s married to Bridget Fonda; I am sure she provides a lot of inspiration.
Not doing much else these days, but we always have her Janet of the high plains in Singles.
I love Williams, but Max Steiner “the father of film music” is the king of composers, to me. King Kong, Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Casablanca, etc., and was uncredited on so many more classics. His work spanned many genres … film noir, westerns, war, muscial comedies, dramas, Disney cartoons, and the rest.
Goldsmith is my favorite. Brilliant composer, although there are so many I enjoy. Mr. Right is a bit of a films score nut, and I do so love this particular score (The Fountain). Cinemagic was a wonderful film score channel on XM Sirius until is was disconnected. I had to make my own on Pandora, but still…
Williams was brilliant, although a bit derivative. At least he borrowed from some of the best (http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/bshapiro/2012/02/20/the-top-10-best-film-composers-of-all-time/) great article at Big Hollywood discusses further. Love James Horner’s Battle Beyond the Stars, Wrath of Khan and Aliens, although there are a few strains he seems to put into every score.
Thanks for the link, Mrs. Right. Good stuff.
I met a music writer at a screenwriting conference some years ago (he was hoping to branch out), and asked him how he “writes” music. I can’t imagine how one comes up with the notes in one’s head, then puts them down on paper to create all that amazing rhythm, harmony, etc. He told me it’s really no different than any other kind of writing. I recall his overall point as there are some basics and all one does is re-work those.
In other words, all music is derivative of something that went before, just like all storytelling is derivative of what went before. What matters is how well one puts the already existing ingredients together.
I just heard Andrew Breitbart died.
Just heard this, too. In a blink of an eye…R.I.P., Andrew.
Sad and true…
http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/
That’s a shocker! RIP Andrew. Prayers for family and friends!
Wow. Just heard the Breitbart news as well…I’m stunned.
43 years old. Sad for his family.
Did anyone else see this? http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/grizzly-bear-charges-alaskan-tourists-video-010559736.html
Talk about scary. And I’m guessing this is a paid tour to observe grizzlies in nature; and the tour guide’s best advice is not to move. I am also guessing they haven’t seen Grizzly Man . Unbelievable.
That was one hell of a bluff! That bear should be on the World Series of Poker. That was the correct advice though and as you suggested, they are still wild animals and not predictable.
You jinxed me Tink, for some reason my reply to you was moderated.
The most beautiful woman you’ve probably never seen…why I wake up at 3 AM..Betty Nguyen!

“Access Denied.” Who’d you tick off Scott?
I guess that restraining order finally kicked in.
Googled her.

A looker.
Bastards…

Not too shocking there. I think this was completely expected even though the House bill had bipartisan support. For the more conspiracy minded, consider this:
http://hotair.com/archives/2012/03/01/what-if-catholic-bishops-arent-bluffing/
I didn’t realize the Catholic Church provided that level of medical care. Better to strike it down and assume total control right?
To hell with this country
It’s well on the road!
Satan’s henchmen are running the administration already!
Bite your tongue, Scott. We’re still the best thing going and none of us (well, most of us at least) have given up all hope yet.
Are we the still the last best hope of mankind?I wonder…
Damn straight we are. We’ve been in a lot worse shape than this.
When?
Granted I’m only going on thirty, but still…
“When?” you ask?

This was on the front page of the Washington Post yesterday and it might pick up steam and go nationally. Obviously the Left is up in arms:
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/deaconsbench/2012/02/maryland-priest-denies-communion-to-lesbian-at-funeral/
Not sure how to feel about this, this “woman” (I use the scare quotes because trust me if you saw this person you’d be wondering) was at her mother’s funeral, but as a lesbian I don’t know which Catholic Church she could have been possibly going to, not the one where the funeral was held obviously, to call herself a regular church goer. No one seems to mention which church was her.
Also, friends and I have attended mass at this church and Father Marcel Guarnizo is awesome. Most priests do not muster much energy in delivering the liturgy but he has always been great. The Archdiocese of Washington has reprimanded him and it seems he was out of line.
Dr. Peters at Canonlawblog.wordpress has some interesting things to say about it. And he links to Fr. Z at What Does the Prayer Really Say blog.
Interesting stuff. But I would wager I could pick this woman out as a lesbian by the way she looks:
http://towleroad.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c730253ef0163022ca8e1970d-800wi
I’ll take the same wager.
Egad, ya think? It’s PAT!
(And are we sure she’s a lesbian? I’m not sure there are many women who would want to take that on either.)
And yes, I fully expect someone to show up in a couple of months to tell me what a horrible person I am.
You are a horrible person, Tink.
A preemptive measure, I like it! Thanks, Kit.
Are you a lesophobe?
If those were the pickings, wouldn’t you be?
Yes actually!
MY EYES! THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!
LOL!
Debbie Wasserman-Shultz will be attending a fundraiser hosted by a Muslim radical who is on the Terror Watch List. As liberals like to say, follow the money…

Good news in Las Vegas…No, Harry Reid is not resigning-yet…no, and they are raising the water rates…BUT…Occupy Las Vegas has overwhelmingly been denied a renewal for their lease and license!!!
Thank heaven for small victories.
In other news. Sherrif Arpayo of AZ fame after having done an exhaustive 6 month investigation announced today in a broadcast news conference that Obama’s so called Hawaiian birth certificate was a computer generated forgery. I heard the disclosure on the radio, and this link came from Drudge:
http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/sheriff-joes-posse-probable-cause-obama-certificate-a-fraud/
(sp) Arpaio
Here’s a link for the Washinton Times article on the same subject:

The little brother strikes again with a piece about how his paper hired local Boston artists to redesign their street boxes, to one-up the competition, and try to deter vandals and the homeless from dumping their (as fritz calls it) crap in them. Click on the video to see him kind of hosting the first look at the boxes, and vignettes of the artists that “pimped” them. He’s the one that looks like Robert De Niro circa, Taxi Driver and Mean Streets. It’s hard to believe he’s 40 in two months.
http://digboston.com/experience/2012/02/dig-boston-box-redux-pimped/
That’s a good idea, and I hope it turns into a great idea!
Robert De Niro? Nah. . .he doesn’t look nearly as mean.
It’s good to know that the latest bunch of crap coming down the pike is that they now believe we are all able to handle high gas prices than we were before. Oh Joy!
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daniel-gross/limited-gas-pains-why-u-better-able-handle-153416885.html
Seems as if their recurring “leitmotif” is “we’re better off now than we were four years ago.” I think their propaganda machine is off to a slow start.
