“And the goblins will get you if you don’t watch out!”
http://jdyflygrl.blogspot.com/2008/10/goblins-will-get-you-if-you-dont-watch.html
North Korea and Iran are the goblins..I’m scared!
Scott, you do yourself no favors with this kind of comment. If you’ve got an argument to make for why nuclear weapons in the hands of North Korea and Iran are of no concern to America, go ahead and make it.
Well,Mike, how many nuclear weapons from North Korea and Iran have hit anything?
After they hit something is a bad time to start telling them to stop making them.
That’s still not an argument, unless I fill in your blanks:
1. North Korea and Iran haven’t got missiles capable of hitting the US.
2. Therefore, their development of nuclear weapons is harmless.
Nope. I was wrong. It’s still not an argument.
What a silly question. Scott, you’re smarter than this.
The same number as the amount of Zyklon B used in 1937.
Are we done with the specious statements now?
That answer would be, “no”.
That’s right, Scott, let’s all stick our heads in the sand and pretend that there aren’t crazy people in the Middle East who want to kill us. Since we tried that in the ’90s, and it sure made them leave us alone, didn’t it?
Yeah,Jimmy, remember the weapons of mass destruction?
I’m not going to get distracted by the question of whether or not Iraq had WMDs. That’s only relevant if you’re claiming that these countries are not developing nuclear weapons.
Are you? Or should we drop this line of reasoning?
Yeah, it’s funny that you should bring up Iraq. If memory serves, the insurgents we were fighting there were armed and funded by…oh that’s right, Iran. And now they want to build a nuke. Yep, no threat there.
There were chemical weapons found in Iraq. There was evidence Sadam was going to resume his attempts to build nukes. Are you sure you aren’t actually Ron Paul posting here?
I’ll pile on Scott… you would fail my class making an argument like that. Not because I disagree with you but because mockery and bumper sticker slogans aren’t argument and they certainly aren’t logical.
Mockery is only good when there’s a general consensus — like the suckiness of George Lucas’ last Star Wars trilogy or the idiocy of left-liberalism.
You’re capable of more than that. We can disagree without being disagreeable.
“you would fail my class making an argument like that. Not because I disagree with you but because…” … you didn’t staple a $20 bill to your paper.
there is that. Though with inflation it’s a $50 and even that won’t fill my Honda.
Poor Scott shoulda stood in bed!
And no steroids…

Good on him for sticking with his choice of foods. Though I’ve never been governor, nor Mr. Universe, when I get “out of training,” I put on weight, kind of like Schwarzenegger and M. Ali did. FWIW, I’ve been “out of training” for about 20 years. All of my “hard” has turned to “lard.”
I’ve started the coffee and am chilling the soda. Everything will be ready in 5 minutes.
Need the coffee!
Thank you! Sorry I’m late.
BTW, The Illusionist is a great movie. One of my favorites!
¡Gracias Tink! Just popping in for a quick Cherry Coke® Zero…

Who you callin’ a beanist? I’m ‘Rican, not Messkin, white bread!
If you ain’t Juan Valdeeze, then you’re not the one from Colombia, so you’re off the hook! I don’t go by “white bread” BTW…Just call me “cracka!”

I’m a big fan of strong and independent women but we do a disservice to our young women when we tell them they are man’s physical equal.
I agree. I’m working on a review of “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” for the Am. Spectator, and I think I finally crystalized the book’s message about violence against women: “Women need lots and lots of protection from the state, but men better not presume to protect them.”
That seems to coincide precisely with Ms. Fluke’s argument.
Are you reviewing the movies or the books? Did you like the books? I tried reading the first one (I tried it for 200 pages, more effort than I ever have given any other novel that I didn’t like) and found it dull, nothing ever happened and I finally gave up.
I’m reviewing the 3rd book, specifically. I enjoyed them a lot, myself. Larsson kind of held off telling us what he was really doing until the end.
Hmm, I was wondering if you would say something like that. Maybe I’ll give it another go, or just watch the movie.
Rufus,
The book does acknowledge that in terms of physical strength, most of the males are stronger than her.
What she does have however, are skills and resourcefullness that comes from living in an impoverished coal mining community surrounded by woods where she has had to track and hunt for food while evading authorities.
Philip Glass?
He’s history’s greatest monster!
I thought that was Joel Schumacher.
C’mon, man, we debunked that Schumacher argument a few months ago. Certainly no need to revisit it, especially when Matt Damon’s starring in “action thrillers.”
It’s a Robot Chicken reference.
In the words of Bill the Butcher, whoopsy-daisy!
Creepiest apology in film history.
And no worries, it’s an obscure enough reference that I didn’t expect anybody to pick on it. That’s just how I roll.
Creepy, obscure or both?

That’s the way to start the day! (See my out-of-training comment, above)
The only thing missing is: more bacon, the toast, the biscuits and gravy, the orange juice, the sweet rolls . . .the list goes on and on!

Agreed, that is why I linked to it in yesterday’s Open Thread.
Tonk shot for Tink.
Can’t talk much about the soundtrack to this movie but while it’s historically inaccurate, it’s a good flick.
La belle Stephanie,how are you?

Yo, BarryO, who ya gonna blame? Your only answer, er, only intellectually honest answer: DOPES.
They are worried about consumer protection and crowdfunding; not kill the bill but make amendments. I will blame them for covering their own asses and being overly cautious. I may have a business for which I need to raise money and would love to be able to raise capital through networking. Would you send me $100?
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2012/0316/JOBS-Act-Why-are-Democrats-suddenly-raising-red-flags/(page)/2
From a letter from SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro to the Senate Banking Committee:
Among other concerns, Ms. Schapiro’s letter says that the JOBS Act would:
• Undo regulations instituted after the dot-com crash that separate stock research analysts from bankers underwriting an initial public offering (IPO), a division meant to keep analytical advice given to investors untainted.
• Unnecessarily loosen auditing restrictions for some small companies heading toward IPOs.
• Fail to provide adequate consumer safeguards for crowdfunding.
“We all should have learned from the painful recent past that reducing investor protections against fraud and abuse will not build a strong economy and create jobs – quite the opposite,” Levin said on a conference call with reporters.
Find a buyer for Looking for Oscar and I’ll send you $5,000.
Deal!

Most linked to article in the history of Threedonia! We all can’t be wrong!
Tink! Did you see this awesome story???!!
Just for Tink
“Life Among the Lowly”,it was subtitled…aside from the King James Bible,it was the most influential book ever published on this continent.

Since Scott is posting reviews of HUNGER GAMES.
Here is a little clip

Katniss shows up the Capitol Pigs!
Check out that wicked beard on Wes Bentley! Well, it makes sense, since he’s already played the son of the Devil once. Dude knows how to play creepy, that’s for sure.
It is indeed a brave new world. Companies and government agencies (no surprise there) are asking job applicants for social media logins and passwords. (Saw the link at Ace of Spades.)

Yep. Read that and just fired off a letter linking to it, to my congressman. He seems to be a good guy. Maybe he won’t respond; maybe he will. I’d like to see the conservatives trump the libs on this issue.
Happy birthday to one of my favorite actresses, the lovely Holly Hunter, and also to the immensely talented William Hurt (mildly NSFW).
Hey! Bristol Palin called out Obama…sweet. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/03/bristol-palin-to-barack-obama-when-can-i-expect-your-call/
Yes, it is sweet. Which is why I linked to it yesterday in the Open Thread. Apparently, I’m the Rodney Dangerfield of Threedonia.
Speaking of links, check out this link where one of the Palin daughters gives it to the President: http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/03/bristol-palin-to-barack-obama-when-can-i-expect-your-call/
You might want to check the wink, Tink.
Now ya tell me!
Hey, has anyone seen this, yet: http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/03/bristol-palin-to-barack-obama-when-can-i-expect-your-call/
Wow, what a smackdown!
Tink, if you feel like the Rodney Dangerfield of Threedonia, don’t…I respect you immensely. Say, since you’re up could you get me a beer?
Just for you, Fritzie:
“At about 3AM, I was drunk as a skunk. I came home just in time to hear the cuckoo clock cuckoo three times. Quickly coming up with a plan, I cuckooed nine more times, hoping my wife would think it was midnight. I was very proud of myself.
The next day, my wife asked what time I got home, and I replied, “Midnight, just like I said.”
She said that was good, and for some reason she said we needed a new cuckoo clock. When I asked why, she answered, “Last night when it cuckooed midnight, it cuckooed three times, said ‘Shit!,’ cuckooed four more times, farted, cuckooed three times, cleared its throat, cuckooed two more times and then started giggling.”
Funny!
It’s a lot more difficult when all you have is a grandfather clock with a Westminster chime! :-0
Or are you just yanking my chain?
Chain yanked.
Oh Tink…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I hold the record of facepalms around here, dangit.
And so that deserves a:
…facepalm for Floyd?
oops—there’s the image! Nevermind…
Oh gooz… Jesus only gives me high fives.
I don’t really care if they label me a Jesus Freak…
You’ll have to excuse us; we’re in love with Jesus.
That DC Talk song is one of my favorites, second only to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMrJOdsG7bA
Make sure you stay with it after the song ends. At the beginning of the vid, I thought, “They filled a stadium that large???” At the end of the vid, I had my answer!
The full Alfie!?
Sorry, you’re still behind Beansy.
I’ve been watching the one and only season of “Terriers” on Netflix Streaming. It stars Donal Logue (one of my favorites) as a private eye in San Diego. It’s pretty good — the dialogue is great which mean of course FX canceled it after one season. I’m halfway through the 13 episodes.
I’ve always liked Donal Logue also, I’ll have to check it out.
It’s raw langauge-wise (a lot of “sh*ts”) and some sex (FX version — not HBO wise) so be advised if your chillens are around.
I like Logue, too. He was excellent in The Tao of Steve, one of the great overlooked movies of recent years.
It’s been sitting in my queue forever, despite my wife’s 1 for 1 re. The Good Guys and her love of Terriers. Once we get done with Lilyhammer, it’s bumped to #1.
Loved Logue on the woefully underappreciated Knights of Prosperity, too, where we also got a great look at Ms. Vergara’s brilliant comic timing. That woman truly is a helluva work of art.
Yes we love looking at Ms. Vergara’s comic timing.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lilyhammer. Yeah it was a bit cliche, but I loved thje culture clash aspect. Norway is not a place we see a lot of. I’d love to know what Lars thinks of its portrayal in the show.
Yeah comic timing, that’s the ticket.
She be da full package.
very physical comedy…slapstick even
Clean dat boy’s wallpaper!
+ rule 5
Yeah, she sure does tickle my funny bone.
I didn’t think men liked it if you called it “funny.”
Feeling your oats, tonight, aren’t you?
Huh…I’m not familiar with the slang term ‘oats’.
“Watch it wiggle, see her giggle.”
or…
“Wiggle-wiggle-wiggle-wiggle-wiggle, yeah!”
If you are invoking the “wiggle-wiggle-wiggle” dance, I hope you pulled off your pants first.
TWSS
Why you naughty little pixie!
You’ll just have to use your imagination, I suppose…
“I hope you pulled off your pants first.”
yeah…I sure hope as hell not…
I don’t know what you where thinking of, I was thinking of this video, starting about 2:12 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKNWAXRg3iA&feature=related
As it happens, my reaction can be read right here, in a post at The American Spectator: http://spectator.org/archives/2012/02/21/lilyhammer-a-stranger-in-a-nic
There was a lot of cliche, and a lot of cheap gags, but I have to admit I got a kick out of it. The cool thing is the implied criticism of their own culture, by the Norwegian writers and producers.
Glad I got you Threedonia warmongers in a froth!….I just hope North Korea doesn’t target Augusta….I can’t miss the Masters!
Don’t flatter yourself. The only one frothing here is you, as evidenced by your ceaseless name-calling in lieu of any substantive discussion.
That’s Mrs. Breeder-Warmonger to you.
Scott consider:
July 21, 2005 :: AP :: News
Lt. General Henry A. Obering III, director of the Missile Defense Agency, has expressed concern about the threat of short-range ballistic missiles launched from ships off the U.S. coast. Obering discussed the possibility of an enemy carrying a Scud or similar missile to within a few hundred miles of the U.S. coastline before launching it.
April 27, 2005 :: Jane’s Information Group :: News
The May edition of Jane’s Missiles and Rockets reports that recent missile tests by Iran may have been part of the development of an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) warhead. Jane’s cites testimony from the Senate Committee on the Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology, and Homeland Security from March 8, 2005, by Peter Pry and Lowell Wood. Wood is a member of the Congressional EMP Commission, which released its important report on the EMP threat in July 2004.
Some of Iran’s tests of its Shahab-3 had been terminated before the completion of their ballistic trajectories, that is, exploding in mid-flight by what appeared to be a self-destruct mechanism. Iran has nevertheless described the tests as fully “successful.”
October 14, 2004 :: Middle East Newsline :: News
Citing U.S. officials, Middle East Newsline today reports that Iran has deployed a number of short-range and medium-range Scud ballistic missiles aboard cargo vessels, and equipped them to be launched from the ships. The ships are said to be stationed in the northern Persian Gulf and the Straits of Hormuz. The officials also said that Iran began deployment of ship-based missiles in 1997, and that several such vessels are already so equipped.

They have been developing the means to attack us for 30 years, now. Right now, all they lack is a nuclear warhead. As signatories of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, they may not develop nuclear weapons and must submit to international inspection of all of their nuclear facilites. They are refusing to allow inspections of certain facilities. What do you think they are doing in there? Do we have a right to be concerned? Or do we have to wait until they actually do something first? Because, what they are developing will bring us to our knees, quickly. Frothy enough for you!
Well, hello dere, Massah Tommy.
That sounds you hear is the Hollywood/media elite putting their fingers in their ears and screaming, “Lalalalalala.”
Ah-ah, Tink! Remember, those Hollyweird folks are “elites.” That means they’re better than us; so, they can do that sort of thing and people will understand why.
Why?
By the way,who is trying to extinguish Christianity in the Middle East, the Sunnis or the Shi’ites?
Why don’t you tell us Scott, and explain its relevance while you’re at it?
…and while you’re doing that, also tell us who pledged to wipe Israel off the map.
You already know the answer,Mike,or you wouldn’t have asked.Pile on!
Troll, troll, troll your post

I only deal in the booze trade, so here’s the bottle.
Well Scott… I have a student who is a devout Christian who had to flee Iran when she converted (and her husband) — they’re on a list an can’t go back. Iran is about to execute a Christian pastor. Those are the Shi’ites. Let’s look at the Shi’a persecution of Iraqi Christians in the southern parts of Iraq.
For Sunni… we have the Egyptians persecuting Copts, and the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia calling for the destruction of Christian churches in the Middle East.
The Umayyads (the original Sunnis) drove all the way out to France before running into Charles Martel. The Shi’ites drove all the way to India the other way destroying Buddhism and Christianity (and Zoroastrians as well) in their path.
You’re just sniping — and you’re wide of the target.
Go to this website and peruse the persecution of Christianity by Muslims of all stripes. http://www.persecution.com/
Until then shut your piehole unless you offer something substantive on the subject.
Beside all that — religious persecution is not why we’re over there.
Don’t you realize there is a war on women’s reproductive rights in your own country?
http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/breitbart-editor-obama-eligibility-irrelevant/
It didn’t take long for Breitbart’s aim to go down the tubes!
Man, do I wish Ben Shapiro was a birther.
I don’t see how this sends Breitbart’s aim “down the tubes”.
Shaprio is making a wise choice not touching the Birther issue.
-It would make the Bigs look like cranks.
-It would distract from issues of his radicalism which are far more important.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dddAi8FF3F4&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Pretty much.
I want to know what everyone knows about this “Dennis Terry” controversy.
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/election-2012/santorum-microscope-attending-church-service-pastor-tells-non-chistians-article-1.1047510
Apparently, in his speech (which I have not watched) he called on people to “stand up” to abortions and homosexuality but it was the following alleged quote that has gotten controversy:
“Listen to me. If you don’t love America, and you don’t like the way we do things, I’ve got one thing to say, get out!” he said. “We don’t worship Buddha, we don’t worship Mohammed, we don’t worship Allah. We worship God. We worship God’s son Jesus Christ.”
Did I totally miss, “get drunk and argue online day” in Threedonia? I’m totally lost on this whole war debate…
…and I hate missing “get drunk and argue online day.” It’s like Christmas.
Exactly like Christmas, just with more insults and barfing!
You have never been to my extended family Christmas party.
Can I come this year? I love free entertainment. I’ll even bring fruit cake!
You’re bringing Floyd?
OOOOOOOOOOO! Him gonna say something snotty about your Fiat and spats!
You’ve never spent Christmas with the Fireflies.
Some here don’t even need alcohol. They just have a “get up and argue online day” on days that end in “y”.
I’m not complaining. Arguing is 1/2 of why I come here.
Well, I don’t mind the arguing either, that’s part of why I’m here. But by getting drunk, I was referring to the fact that unlike what is normal here, I can’t figure out what the hell anyone is talking about in this Korea/Iraq/Iran/Nuke/etc. argument. It’s kind of all over the place
Well…that’s because it really wasn’t an argument so much as someone trying to stir crap hit-and-run style using a pathetically limited understanding of foreign affairs that one usually finds on a
StormfrontRawn Pawl pamphlet. When he actually responds by answering the questions posed and defending his position, then it’ll be an argument. But not much of one, really…See, that’s not all that unusual for me. But I think the problem is that Scott started it and he doesn’t do clear lines of reasoning. He’s more of a poke and run kinda guy.
What’s the other half, Tracy?
It’s got to be for all the luv!
the repartee.
and the imaginary coffee.
I’m going to have to disagree with you. I say arguing is 13/26ths of why you come here.
I thought every day was “get drunk and argue online day” here. So it’s just been me all this time, then? Hmm, awkward…
No, no. It’s ok, Jimmy. We like you drunk.
Well, since you don’t argue much, we’re left with you thought it was “get drunk” day. That’s ok, as I mentioned, others have the “and argue” part covered pretty well. As long as it’s all done, we’re good.
A few days ago, I posted a link to a video of “welfare queens” in NYC, as exposed by Nancy Pelosi’s daughter, of all people.

If you read the article, his arm and chest strength are mechanically augmented. I think his muscles supply less than 3% of the power.
I hope homeschoolers Tracy and Zoon show this to their sons.
Sadly, I don’t for a second think this is real and would need to see some more evidence that the guy actually did this. Would be cool though.
Wow!
Good news; but, not for us: http://z6.co.uk/headache
State governments are rebuilding roads and bridges with Chinese contractors and labor. I guess the Americans were too lazy to do such work.
If someone would have told this to me, I’d have thought them crazy . . .
For those of you who live and travel in those states, California being one of them, remember the Chinese drywall debacle. Your bridges could be just that good!
And so the population of California would be thinned out…
…and the problem is?
I wonder what the union folk think of that.
Back to the 1850′s.
“State governments are rebuilding roads and bridges with Chinese contractors and labor. I guess the Americans were too lazy to do such work.”
That little fact is going to pi** off the illegals!
Now I suppose you’ve become a coolieist?
