Some of the greatest music of the past 50 years or so has been put out under the sponsorship of NFL FIlms — THE premiere myth makers of American culture in our history (IMHO).
And this one is the best — of course:

Mmmm, always nice to see Mssrs. Gregory, Martin and Co. on the prowl.
Oh, West Coassssst, represent!!!
Westsiiiide!
Oh, and happy birthday to Captain Tightpants himself, Nathan Fillion. (And whatever you do, don’t ask him about his hammer).
Firefly marathon night! Although he’s fabulous in Dr Horrible too. NPH is good too. So good I forget he’s gay and have a crush on him anyway. I love a man who can laugh at himself.
He’s only gay because he ran out of women.
Looks like this is the new normal, boys.
Hangin’ with the 5-toed sloth???
Coffee, krullers and not much else this morning. Sorry, but that’s it. I/we have been extremely busy yesterday and today as well. I’ll be back later, and I’d better find that you all have been behaving yourselves! I’m not beyond using corporal punishment!
Promise?
Oh yeah!
Corporal punishment is not to be confused with Sgt. Major Schultz!
Thank goodness! I thought I was about to be demoted!
Coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool photo from the USC – Stanford Baseball game yesterday (from USC’s Facebook page)

Caption time!!!!
“Yup, blue, he’s wearing a cup.”
When putting on a Trojan… always start at the head.
Sorry Mom!
PARKOUR!!
Watch it there aren’t too many lovers of “The Office” around here…a posted a link to PARKOUR!! a while back and got told how unfunny that show was for my efforts.
I’ve never seen the American Office, but I found your clip hilarious!
I like The Office a lot, but haven’t watched for a couple of seasons now. If I didn’t have to sleep, I would have time to watch everything.
They were just exercising their constitutional right to be wrong about stuff.
I figured the video clip of someone wearing cargo shorts and flip-flops wasn’t worth my time.
+100
You’re right nobody would want to see video of this…
But it was actually this…
While I don’t find the show funny most of the time, that clip actually is funny.
I think #7 is trying to see the world from Obama’s point of view.
In New York City: “In a bizarre case of political correctness run wild, educrats have banned references to “dinosaurs,” “birthdays,” “Halloween” and dozens of other topics on city-issued tests.”

I’m serious. You can’t make this u- wait. Hold on. I think South Park did this very thing on their first Christmas episode where they decide to remove from the city’s Christmas celebration anything that offends anybody. The result is the dumbest Christmas show ever.
Sorry, Eric. The USA Men’s Soccer Team is out of the Olympics.

Yup, saw that earlier — que sera sera and hope they get a better in-shape starting goalie and/or a smarter backup. Happens to the best, though, so just hope they learn from it.
“A train wreck“. Music, sweet music to my ears. We’ve got a bumpy ride ahead of us here, but this is a good start.
That is good news, but the Supremes rarely tip their hands. I’ve seen them beat up an attorney and then rule in his favor more than once. I think it’s a sort- of hazing process.
Like I said, we’ve still got a long way to go, but I’ll take whatever good news I can get at this point.
I’m with Rufus. It is good news but it still doesn’t mean a whole lot.
Suck up.
The good news: TCM showed one of Valentino’s best today. (Between the Rocks)
The bad news: It was on in the middle of the night. And I have no DVR.
But if you can see it — several of his films show up, at least in parts, on YT; it’s on dvd but don’t know if it’s Netflixable — it’s worth it. He’s a sympathetic playboy who gets his heart broken by Gloria Swanson, who’s married to a man 3 times her age. Believe it or not = they’re very sexy together.
See, ladies…there is hope for us old guys! Right Magnus?
Whatever gets you through the day, Fritz.
Or the night?

But, Herr Kommandant, a few days ago, you described your extremely loyal Sgt. Major as a punk teenager, or teenaged punk (I forget which). How old could I be? Why, I feel young!
Help me out here Sgt. Major. I know I’m older than dirt, but no one wants to be out on the end of the plank alone!
Classic classic rock year, 1973.
Shows me just how much I was paying attention that year. I thought, “My Maria” was a 1950s tune.
Will it Go Round In Circles, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Let’s Get it On, Frankenstein, Love Train, Crocodile Rock, Ramblin’ Man…
*slides into music coma*
I am a huge fan of all but 1, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” Rufus doesn’t do maudlin. The Billy Preston tune is one of my all time favorites of any genre!
Every single one of those songs you listed is on my iPod.
Sweet! “Ballroom Blitz!”
Seriously though, look at all that awesomeness.
A helluva year to be three-years-old and getting to hear all of it — thanks, mom and dad (and Uncle Steve)!!!
Even better to be 9 and have your own radio…
goozer was too old, Eric was too young. I, however, was just right.
(Insert Goldilocks double entendre here.)
Insert?! Watch yourself, Sir! Haven’t you heard this is a family blog?
Which family are you talking about, Addams or Manson?
More like the Munsters meet the Osbournes.
Given the root of this particular topic, I’d say the Family Stone…
Another cookie, your first repeat!
So who’s Sly?
Ever so humbly, duh.
Not my first…
Dunno — but in another case of cosmic juxtaposition, as I am typing this, Graham Central Station (the band formed by the legendary Family Stone bass player Larry Graham) is on my ‘phones with “Now-Du-U-Wanta-Dance”!
Dang, if I wasn’t rock funkin’ out with Collective Soul, I’d be jealous.
Okay, Eric – that is FANTASTIC. And totally made my day.
I found Oscar!
…and: Collective Soul < Graham Central Station.
No argument re. Larry G, but do loves me some of those funky white CS boys.
I get to be Morticia!
better than Squeaky Fromme!
I think if I have to listen to (or read) one more liberal saying that “the Republicans are waging a war on women/the poor/minorities/gays” I’m literally going to puke. Don’t these people ever get tired of mindlessly repeating the same BS talking points over and over and over again? It’s like trying to talk to an android that has its programming stuck on an endless, repetitive loop.
Get tied! You’re talking to a tourist whose every move is among the purist.
Dang. I had to look that one up.
That’s a drag, it’s a pity.
No, I have a friend who cannot have a conversation without bringing it all back to my “ethnocentric” viewpoints that I supposedly have. Of course, in her mind ethnocentric means anything that isn’t deeply anti-white person. Cracks me up because she attends UT, is black and has lived in a black neighborhood her whole life, only hangs out with black people from what I can see on her facebook pictures and is constantly pushing black only causes. I on the other hand live in a multi-race family, with a fiance who is not American, while working for 7 years in a foreign country, and can speak 2 languages besides English fairly well.
Oh well, why let facts get in the way of liberal bulls**t?
Non-racist pig!
They know that by repeating lies long enough, the lies become accepted as truth.
Great mug shots (aside from Nick Nolte):
