You always mean much more to me …

… than you could ever guess
Because buying your competition’s cards
Will fill my life with joy and happiness

Let’s see, no more Kraft foods products (thanks, Kroger brand alternates), and now no more Hallmark cards, too. If nothing else, though, I appreciate how their being so obviously in the tank for President Obama makes my decision-making process all the easier.

Another consumer stated, “Since Hallmark has joined the Obama team and besmirched the Tea Party (aka Americans of no particular party seeking to reduce the size of government while increasing fiscal responsibility), I don’t feel guilty about building my own greeting cards on line anymore. Thanks for that.”

I won’t buy their cards anymore. Not sure if I did. I’ll just have my own little sweat shop, aka my students, turn my cards out for me in the future.

I go with Papyrus…their cards show you care!

  • Good to know, Eric – with my and Mrs C.’s Anniversary coming up, soon! :)

  • It’s good to find these things out, because it does make my decisions easier. I won’t do business with a firm which supports Obama unless I have no choice.

If only the Democratic party “cared enough to send their very best”. Actually, what scares me is that maybe they did.

  • You know I wouldn’t have an issue if they also produced a conservative card that made fun of the President…but I doubt they have one.

I was thinking about that too. That would be balanced and acceptable. Maybe there is one that hasn’t been discovered yet. But with the silence from Hallmark I doubt it; or they have people working on it 24/7.

I still don’t understand companies such as Hallmark, or Kraft (or others I can’t think of right now) that choose to alienate a large segment of their potential customer base on purpose. I guess they feel they are making plenty of money and don’t need to worry about increasing profits. Pretty stupid, but what does this hetero-sexual conservative consumer know?

It doesn’t actually bother me too badly. I’ve see a lot worse said, it’s not even clever. I was a lot angrier when they had “loss of pet” cards but no “loss of child” cards, so I haven’t bought a card for years.

With Tracy, what’s the big deal? The greeting card has zerO on it and intones zerO’s dislike of the tea party. It’s a punchline, not a political statement. Don’t like that one, don’t buy it! Dislike zerO so much, that he taints the whole company making a card for graduation, that’s your right. If the inside said, “because you won’t find a job in my economy” would it be better? Certainly, more political (and correct). Lighten up! Liberals get offended by words. Conservatives are supposed to be above that.

    • Till I see any card along the lines Outlaw mentioned, I’ll paraphrase a fave band of his and move on, on, on to the next one. Freedom of choice, ya gotta fight the powers that be.

Since Hallmark has decided to soil themselves, they will forever be known as Hashmark Cards! :P

I kind of agree with Goatherd. Why is everyone making such a big deal of this? It’s your right to not buy things from Hallmark and I won’t say anything about that choice. But for example, so many people here have gone on and on about how much they love the show Big Bang Theory. I too, having finally watched it, enjoyed the show. But there were Liberal ideas and immoral activities promoted on that show quite often, but for some reason no one is screaming “boycott!” Could it be because you find parts of the show funny so you’re willing to overlook the liberalism and immorality in the show? Heck, the show even openly mocks Christians.

I think Conservatives get themselves worked up in a mouth foaming frenzy sometimes over small things.

I literally hate that show. Never watched it, but have seen enough promos that I didn’t need to. Same with That 70s Show. Bill Clinton type shows…all about gettin’ some! that’s why we watch DIY and HGTV here and reruns from the 50s, like Naked City, Perry Mason, etc. I know, I’m just an old grouch! True that!

      • Dr. Schplatt

Ok, pick another TV show you like that’s been made recently and chances are there’s something morally objectionable about it. Now, I don’t find That 70s Show and Big Bang Theory to be anything alike. I hate That 70s Show and thought I would hate The Big Bang Theory until I started watching it and found it to be pretty funny in small doses.

I wasn’t referencing you exactly with the show reference and if someone wants to be consistent about the things they boycott then go right ahead. I’m just fascinated by what makes us foam at the mouths as conservatives and Christians and what won’t bother us at all.

And the timing is always suspect in these deals, those cards have to have been on shelves for sale since the end of April. Why now?

You know the zookeeper can feed the lions right before someone visits to give a sleepy, content pride or withold food for a couple of days to give an angry, on edge group of fierce creatures. Everything depends on what appearence the zookeeper wishes to show his guests. The media acts as our keepers, if we get whipped up when they want, we are no better than those caged lions.
