“Wassailing”. I just looked it up, it reminds me of “hogmanay” The biggest celebration of the year in Scotland. After midnight visits are made by neighbors from house to house and in celebration of the new year wee drams of whiskey and a piece of shortbread are served. It can get very merry. New Years Day is always a holiday. I don’t know the origin of wassailing or hogmanay but I’m pretty sure it’s very old = Auld Lang Syne.
A Wassail bowl was made of wine, ale, ginger, apples, honey, beaten egg whites, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices. In that clip Floyd posted weeks ago of Sinatra and Bing singing, Jingle Bells, they were drinking fron a Wassail bowl.
