Not much after my lower middle class salary saw a 2% tax increase after O’Butthead’s “deal” to only tax “the wealthiest Americans”. Didn’t know $17.00/hr made one “wealthy”. EVERYONE’S paycheck will be lower despite what the Demon-crat propaganda machine, aka “Mainstream Media”, would have us believe. Go ahead and do a search for news reporting the 2% increase on Social Security withholding that is hitting everyone. You won’t find much.
In the past I’ve had no real cause to really hate whoever was POTUS. I didn’t know them why should I hate them? Even Bill Clinton I couldn’t really hate, because maybe, in a way, I sensed his narcissism would take a back seat, every once in while, to at least wanting to do the right thing. But the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue changed that. This BHO’s narcissistic nature knows no bounds. I can’t stand to listen to him. Every word he utters, including ‘and’ and ‘the’, is a lie as far as I’m concerned. I am deeply concerned about what the next four years will bring for America.
And they were saying it was going to be 1.7% since October, and that we ought to be happy it didn’t go back up 2%. After not getting a raise after 6 years, and having my salary reduced by 3% already, then they threaten that we have to pay our own health insurance next year, I might as well be making minimum wage now.
Yep. That’s what I was b!tchin’ about a few days ago. I get paid monthly on the first in arrears and receive the check advice a few days before. But, even though I earned the money before 12/31, because I was paid on the first, I got the good news that I was going to be paying more of my fair share while the bozo’s in DC were still dancin’.
This payroll tax raises the question: Are there enough peepul affected by it who voted for I-can’t-even-say-his-name to create any backlash at all? Or are they really just zombies (as I suspect).
My boss does not pay SS because he has a safety retirement, but he told me his health insurance premium has gone up $300 month (wife & two kids). He’s a conservative Democrat for now, & a great guy. I wonder if he’ll snap out of it.
Daniel,
Sadly, I must say “Me too” to your second paragraph. I never liked Clinton, but recognized that he was a savvy enough politico, he’d at least know when to compromise. And now? I switch channels (or stations) whenever I hear the voice of the POTUS. His arrogance makes me ill, and makes me fear for my country.
I never thought I could actually hate anyone. I despised Clinton because of the way he lived his personal life, but this creature affects me like no other human being has ever affected me. Like you, I have to quickly turn the channel as soon as he appears. I cannot look at him or listen to his voice. I once had a Priest friend say that in the presence of evil you will feel revulsion, that’s exactly what he evokes in me.
Humanities is probably my favorite class, which is where we cover a good chunk of the Western Canon. Theology went over a lot ground that’s already familiar (an aside: Lucretius is tedious). “Way of Beauty,” an art history/theory class, got better as things went along, and I picked up some valuable tidbits there. I could do without Latin, but that just might have to do with how its being taught (Rosetta Stone seems like it will a nice aid, though). Natural History was interesting, but the way the class was structured is just too scattered for my taste and with the load of reading we had to do in four other classes, it was my “I’ll get to it, if I can…maybe” class. I switch out Euclidean Geometry for Natural History next semester. Joy.
I might actually respect the Speaker of the House if I thought this were true:
Sources confirmed to Fox News that House Speaker John Boehner told Harry Reid to “go f— yourself” while passing by the Senate majority leader at the White House Friday.
The outburst came after Reid, on Thursday, took to the floor and likened Boehner to a dictator. Reid had claimed Boehner was holding back a bill out of concern for his speakership.
“John Boehner seems to care more about keeping his speakership than about keeping the nation on firm financial footing,” Reid said Thursday, claiming the chamber was “being operated with a dictatorship of the speaker.”
Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, I’m as happy as can be! M*I*C…K*E*Y…well you know the rest of the crap coming out of DC, so I’ll let you alone to ponder this whole Mickey Mouse garbage with the economy!
Here’s coffee. No krullers today, in preparation for Michelle’s decision that they are bad for our health…Obi-care, remember? I hope they all get a hemmorhoid!!!
Sorry for the visual. You should have seen some of the actual photos on Google Images! For the sake of the ladies, I did not post a picture of Dingy Harry! Oh, what the heck…here’s a pic of another hemmorhoid:
Oh for Toledo’s sake. Can’t a girl whine about the zombie apocalypse without being subjected to such misunderstanding. And I coughed because it appeared to me that the target rich environment was the conversation in general and that the wimmens’ (one, me) presence in the conversation was ignored.
Kenneth Branagh was the freaking man back in the day- Henry V, Dead Again, Hamlet- a virtual buffet of awesomeness. Psyched to see what he’s doing with the Jack Ryan franchise, too, especially after he made Thor such an entertaining watch.
I felt he over-acted a bit in Halmet but, due to the lack of a certain Freudian syndrome in its interpretation, its far above the Olivier and Gibson adaptations. In fact, its probably the best adaptation so far.
Jimmy — You should ‘flix his detective series. He plays Kurt Wallander in the Brit adaptation of the Henning Mankell stories. I loved the first 2 seasons.
“Yet the Legislature’s black caucus, the state Latino Action Network, and a broad coalition of more than 50 groups, including teachers’ unions and Planned Parenthood, are opposing Bauman and the other nominee, Robert Hanna, who is white, primarily because they would not make the court more diverse – and specifically, because they’re not African American or Latino.”
The teacher’s unions pick: a high school drop out – after all the teachers aren’t teaching them anything so why should a dumb-*ss drop-out be discriminated against.
Planned Parenthood had no viable pick since that group aborted its constituency out of existence.
Happy New Year, everyone! We just returned from several days in the big city of Sacramento (yes, I know the Bay Area and LA folks are scoffing). I hope you all had a great holiday!
While we were there, we went to a grocery store called Corti Brothers with a very impressive history. Here it is if you want to read about it (very long, but super interesting, especially for the foodies): http://www.sactownmag.com/April-May-2012/The-Tastemaker/
I grew up in the ‘burbs – Foothill Farms & Citrus Heights. Went to Sac State for a year, and saw Jesse Jackson speak when he ran for POTUS. The last place my folks lived in the Sacramento area was Folsom – yeah … that Folsom.
My parents lived in Canon City, Colorado for a long time and that’s where the CO State Pen is, so I had to field a lot of silly questions for years…till they got parolled!
What’s in your wallet?!

Should have gone to work for the PO,Matt
Why not, I have just as much of a chance of being shot.
You could work at McDonald’s in San Francisco.
No more tipping.

This is the painting that Floyd and I mention sometimes.Read the incredible story behind it:”The Lost Painting” by Jonathan Harr
That is a stunning example of naturalistic baroque painting.
Studies going well,David?

Seems to me that with his tyrade against Boehner, Reid was really speaking of himself! What a large PUTZ!

Capt. Hypocrisy may have heard oil cleans tobacco stains pretty nicely.
Think they’ll rehire la Olbermann? Couldn’t happen to a nicer tool.
There you are. Must’ve been one heck of a New Year’s party! You’ve still got on at least part of your Ms. Claus costume!
Ha! Happy 2013, Fritzie!
I changed my avatar back this morning but it looks like gravatar is still on holiday time.
Must be. Happy New Years!

I bought a little chest freezer. I’m going to buy a quarter beef. I’ve got to make up for my obama-pay-cut. (I did try to buy one in Amazonia.)
I sure am happy-fied every time I hear about all the money we’re sending to Egypt.
WalMart has extra long, heavy duty extension cords on sale. The big orange ones.

Silly me.
This, gentlemen, is what we call a target rich environment!
[cough]
hmmmmmm…this being flu season, you should see a doctor about that cough. Lemme grab my stethoscope.
I’m not gonna touch that chest with a 10 ft. pole!
Another example of low hanging fruit…
Well, I see you three are up to your same old tricks.
Nice shade of black there, pot…
Now that you’re here, we have enough for bridge!
Bridge, hmm? I have never tried that particular game before. But I’m a pinochle ace (and I can spell it, too!), does that count for anything?
Well, if you’d been here, it would have been “we four!”
We, four kings of Orient are?
Are what?
That is what I want to know.
I see you are back to your gorgeous blond self!
They started it! Count me out of this (unless you’re talking about card tricks.)
Floyd, I like this speech, too:

Don’t tease me, Scott.
This is rich:
“Yet the Legislature’s black caucus, the state Latino Action Network, and a broad coalition of more than 50 groups, including teachers’ unions and Planned Parenthood, are opposing Bauman and the other nominee, Robert Hanna, who is white, primarily because they would not make the court more diverse – and specifically, because they’re not African American or Latino.”

Happy New Year, everyone! We just returned from several days in the big city of Sacramento (yes, I know the Bay Area and LA folks are scoffing). I hope you all had a great holiday!

Missed you,Tink…carrying Threedonia is chore!
Thanks, Scott! I missed being here also. Totally digging your new avatar (can’t go wrong with Roger Sterling in my book).
Carry on, my good man!
I’m two heart attacks behind Roger Sterling,Junior!
Aaaah … Sacramento, CA … my hometown … No, seriously, stop laughing … I was born & raised there.
What part, Daniel?
We currently have a downtown pied-a-terre.
I grew up in the ‘burbs – Foothill Farms & Citrus Heights. Went to Sac State for a year, and saw Jesse Jackson speak when he ran for POTUS. The last place my folks lived in the Sacramento area was Folsom – yeah … that Folsom.
Wait, that comment didn’t come out right … my folks did not live in Folsom Prison…
I was gonna ask, “In side or out?”
My parents lived in Canon City, Colorado for a long time and that’s where the CO State Pen is, so I had to field a lot of silly questions for years…till they got parolled!
San Quentin,maybe?
See my comment at 1:54 pm above! Glad you’re back!
It’s a small world. I used to live in Dixon & went to Sac City College for a semester or two.
Open the door,little pig,and let me in….
