The Proper Response

Texas Governor Rick Perry released the following statement in response to Obama’s childish (not child-like) and useless attempt to strip away gun rights:

“The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.

“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

“There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

“In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.”

Good for Gov. Perry! This whole situation has been used and abused for, as Gov. Perry put it, the furtherance of an old agenda they’ve been ruminating over for decades! The Second Amendment is not a wish list item, but a clearly defined “right” that WILL NOT be abridged!

  • Woulda, coulda, shoulda been President as of a few days from now. If the Governor’s still interested in the position in a few years (and he and Herman Cain can bury past differences enough to make what should have been last year’s ticket), hope enough folks on our side finally remove their collective heads from their behinds.

    • Well stated by our Governor!

Petty much off topic but…I read too much crap from people supposedly on the “right” side of things concerning GOV Perry to think he will ever have a chance on the national level.

Reference those things, Michele Malkin and Bachman are pretty much dead to me. They have shown they will lie if necessary to defeat someone they have differences with even those on their own side…they have shown themselves to be untrustworthy IMO.

Good for him to understand that it’s the heart that matters. Though, I’m getting tired of video games, movies and music getting blamed for this. Those had nothing to do with it, they’re a consequence of the root problem which is a humanization of the United States culture, morals and education. When you have no standard of living (i.e. a God who decides what’s right and wrong) the nation becomes as the Bible describes in Joshua 21:25 “In those days…everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”

I play shooters and hack and slash games. I go see violent movies. I listen to music that sometimes could be considered violent and I’m a gun owner but I would never go out and shoot up a school because I have morals.

When flawed, sinful, selfish humans get to decide what is morally acceptable, that’s when you start having problems.

Remember Joe Camel,Doc?Libs said seeing him on a billboard would make kids smoke. There was no proof whatsoever for this.I don’t mind seeing the libs squirm when the screen violence they peddle is thrown in their faces.

Yeah. The horrors of how easily Big Tobacco is able to manipulate little minds with a power only they possess.

Funny how Hollywood has to remove cigarettes from Humphrey Bogart’s lips and fingers for a few seconds because it might cause smoking to occur, while no one is at all affected by 120 minute gore-fests like “Saw”.

Too bad it appears that most people are willing to excuse inconsistency and outright hypocrisy as long as it’s done for a cause with which they agree and support.

My favorite is that Avatar guy’s Titanic scene where Rose is seated with all the gentry and lights one up. Oh, what a snappy iconoclast to defy the evil, snobby rich people and then bed the feller in freight. I guess all that trumps the harm to her lungs and the second hand smoke meme and OMG how did it happen that she lived to be a hunert!!! Hooray for Hollywood rich people!!

I’m tired of hearing about the violent video games, movies, etc., being a cause for these crimes, by both sides. They should be talking about the parents who let their kids play/watch/listen to violent media. Yet every talk show I listen to is only talking about the lunatics. I had a student a few years ago who was drawing violent images of punk rockers shooting assault rifles all the time. Then one day he told me he dreamed of coming to school and shooting everyone in my class, and the two classrooms on either side of me. His parents blamed it on the fact he was playing violent video games with his live-in cousin. They blamed the cousin, when it was they who were to blame. The talk shows need to stop talking about just the lunatics, video games, and guns, and start talking about shitty parents.

BTW, a teacher in my county was killed by her 23 year old schizo son lately, over an argument about a TV show. She had stated that she was afraid of what he might do, yet goes and visits his house to watch TV. After the argument, he got a steak knife from the kitchen, came from behind her, and sliced her throat. That didn’t go nation-wide because it wasn’t a gun. If it had, supermarkets would be forced to sell us our meat all cut up for us, after the steak knife ban.

Liberals have a disarmament agenda…plain and simple! I have no doubt that Obama sat in the Oval Office the day the school shooting took place, feeling a certain amount of glee, because he had finally found an excuse to break his lying promise from 2008 that he would not confiscate guns! This may sound harsh, but he HAS an agenda and guns need to go away if he is to fulfill his “destiny” as the man who brought down America!

He evolved on gun control, -fritz-.

      • Matt Helm

Isn’t that why he walked those guns he wants to ban, across the border? The executive privilege that he used to cover up his end in Fast and Furious … he’s now using to ban those guns here. And through his executive privilege/Obamacare, he’s going to use doctors as snitches to see who the gun owners are, so they can write “owns gun,” beneath the diagnosis of the ailment that the person is seeking treatment for. Prognosis negative.

She died because she was exercising her right to free speech during that argument. Clearly the First Amendment is to blame, and we need to put some restrictions on what people are allowed to say, so that nobody gets hurt during an argument. I know some people think free speech is important, but if we can save just one life, it will be worth it.

I like a lot of the stuff Dr. Helen Smith (Instapundit Glenn Reynolds’ wife) has written on the matter.

    • Kit

By matter I mean violent kids.

I found out about her because of her writing on men’s rights and in the late-90s she wrote a lot about violent kids, particularly kids who engage in murder.

This from an administration that armed drug cartels in Mexico.Tell it to the parents of the children killed down south, you SOB.

From H/A: Rand Paul to introduce bill nullifying Obama’s executive orders on guns.

    Rand/Cruz 2016

    • Good luck with that, considering the Senate is controlled by Democrats.

      • Texacalirose

        From the article I read:

At the very least, if he [Rand Paul] can figure out a way to bring this to the floor, it’ll be fun to see how Democrats whose seats are up next year will vote on it. Word on the Hill is that Reid might not even force a vote on the assault-weapons ban lest it prove too difficult for red-state Dems’ reelection campaigns. (According to a CNN poll released today, the recent surge of support for gun control is already starting to fade.) Will Mark Begich? Mary Landrieu? Heidi Heitkamp?

I admire him for speaking up, not just rolling over, fighting to what might even be the end. God save America.

Who are the musicians in the picture over Perry’s left shoulder?
