…a psychedelic TV commercial for orange soda.
I hadn’t thought of this commercial in forever, and then I saw a pin-up drawing by an artist named Runci today which he did for Nesbitt’s Soda…synapses fired and the rest is history. I remember being really confused by this commercial back in the day. It is definitely a piece of work.
Add some naked women and you’d have something worthy of R. Crumb.
Very R. Crumby. Hard to believe he didn’t have a hand in it.
He very well might have. I’m thinking the guy who did “Fritz the Cat” may have been involved.
Same guy. Have you seen the documentary on his life? What an insane family.
Was not him doing this commercial, his style obviously influenced it though along with a lot of drugs.
Outlaw, knowing what a fan or pin-up art you are; have you seen this, http://lileks.com/institute/frahm/index.html
James Lileks does a pretty good rundown on Art Frahm.
Art Frahm was famous for his depiction of women in various poses with their underpants down around their ankles. It made for some very strange pin-ups IMO.
I will check out his article and see what he has today on the matter…thanks.
What year was this?
The YouTube says 1973.

Glad I finally watched this, one of the greatest commercials I’ve ever seen. More folks supposedly doing drugs these days and they can’t come close to this. Glad to have come up in the 70s/80s.
