Well That Didn’t Take Long

On Thursday in this POST I told you about my fear of letting standards slip in the light of DOD’s policy change to allow women to serve in the Infantry and other former all male units.

Today I was greeted with the news that “Marty the Douchbag”, perhaps the worst Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in recent memory is contemplating what? Yes that’s right boys and girls…lowering the standards.

From the Washington Times

When a reporter mentioned that the Pentagon’s stance appeared to keep open the possibility that some occupational specialties would be off limits to females, Gen. Dempsey responded: “[I]f we do decide that a particular standard is so high that a woman couldn’t make it, the burden is now on the service to come back and explain to the secretary, why is it that high? Does it really have to be that high?”

So what are you saying Marty? Nobody really cared how high you set the standards when it was a boys club, but now that the ladies are playing those standards are too high? Tell me the logic in that?

You mean like the minimum passing score for push-ups for a male from 17-21 years old is 42 and a female of the same age is 19? Is that the kind of things you mean Marty? Or does he mean standards like the one for the Special Forces Qualification Course: Must score a minimum of 240 points on the Army physical fitness test (APFT), with no less than 70 points on any event, using the standards for age group 17 to 21 (regardless of the applicants age)?
