The Biggest Loser

Chris Christie’s moment is over. I feel dirty for even considering him as presidential for a fleeting moment.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie poked fun at his weight on the “Late Show With David Letterman” on Monday, consuming a doughnut during his first appearance on the late-night show.

A few seconds after sitting down with Letterman, the heavy-set Republican pulled a doughnut out of his suit pocket.

“I didn’t know this was going to be this long,” Christie joked before taking a bite of the glazed pastry.

Host David Letterman asked Christie if he was bothered by weight jokes aimed at him.

“Well, I only care if you’re funny,” Christie said. “From my perspective, if the joke is funny, I laugh—even if it’s about me. If it’s not funny, I don’t laugh. But I’ve never felt like it was, you know, anything that really bugged me all that much.”

3-2 odds that he speaks at the 2016 or 2020 Democratic Convention as he “evolves”.

I gave up on the Jersey knucklehead for kissing Obama *ss after Hurricane Sandy, and then berating Congressional Republicans for not supporting the pork-filled disaster relief bill Democrats tried to shove through. But appearing on Letterman and making jokes about being fat is the last straw? I don’t get it.

Christie’s “moment” was over during that photo op he handed “he who shall not be named” … oops … I named him above… uh, oh…

  • It’s not the last straw… I was over him awhile ago it’s just annoying here. If he doesn’t ballwash Obama he would never get this treatment. Thank God he showed his true colors — that he’d rather meet Bruce Springsteen and hang out with celebs than be even moderately conservative.

No, this just reconfirms my disdain for him.

Yes, thank the Good Lord that he’s shown his true colors.

Though all this does make me wonder what that anti-union malarky that spilled from his maw was about when he was facing down teachers’ union hacks.

      • Daniel… I wonder if he’s just oppositional-defiant. He likes a fight and they were willing to have one so he accepted the challenge. He could be a formidable opponent on the right issue. I think he let the celebrity get the better of him.

Well, he is from New Jersey, after all!

“Heavy set”? Really? I guess Oprah and Rosie are just “big boneded” then. Fat is not a crime but the in-your-face-mockery-with-a-donut-in-his-face-self-derision is profoundly unattractive. It reveals a lack of gravitas that I used to expect my leaders/presidents to have.

He is dead to me, he who needs a hug from Letterman, too.
