Dick Van Dyke, Buddy Ebsen, Jack Klugman, Ed Asner, Lucille Ball, Robert Young, Andy Griffith, Drew Carey, but I get your point. Newhart is one of the best.
I am very sorry ubama’s option was picked up for a second season.
I knew you’d be ready-at-the-door to note my oversight!! That’s why I issued my disclaimer as soon as I saw my little miss. Beat ya to it!! hahaha Dodged the bullet. There’s no letting up around this place & I love it.
Bob was great! I still like listening to his old standup routines on XM. Good stuff! BTW, I guess I’m going the route of Texacalirose with the old flames routine, but I was madly in love with Suzanne Pleshette in my younger years!
Sadly none of the shows on which Jason Bateman’s starred have been successful, but I’ll always be a big fan of It’s Your Move and Arrested Development (and liked Chicago Sons in its brief run). To the Bob Newhart point re. Bateman, didn’t really care for George & Leo, but I’ll blame that lack of comedic chemistry on Judd Hirsch. Never cared for him on Taxi, or anywhere else for that matter.
The woman who posed for this painting(and several others) is Fillide Melandroni,a Roman prostitute friend of Caravaggio. The world of Roman artists circa 1600 was a rough and tumble place.
I don’t know! I never went there but I’ll ask my DFW friend about it. It looks fantastic (closed on Sunday, probably in honor of the Texas Blue Laws! )
Off the bus and into the indie house. Last night I saw Quartet. It was slow to warm up but I had tears at the end. It’s a lovely film, Smith is perfect, but my favorite is Pauline Collins’ “Cissy.” Hoffman’s artists’ tribute works for me, and he being Hoffman was able to gather a stunning group of actors. For his first directorship, his biggest challenge was probably to stay out of the way of his cast. “Lights, action, camera, pass the ashtray.”
I highly recommend to Wankita & INFJ. I’m putting the soundtrack in my Amazonia tanker.
Jimmy, thanks for the link. It’s no longer working, so everybody who hasn’t seen it should hie themselves to SooperMexican’s video page & laff yer butt off.
Coffee, krullers and cold weather! Two days in a row of burning the fireplace, with about three more to go according to the Weather Channel! It’s a desert fer cryin’ out loud! Let’s get hot!
I miss Bob. How many guys have TWO really funny successful TV shows?
None that I know of. I agree, outlaw. He was great and so was the cast.
Second, uh – maybe third.
True…maybe Ed O’Neill, now that he has “Modern Family”.

First (when rounded to the nearest five).
Not all these had two comedy series, as your original point made, however.
No shit?

(Did you like my Drew Carey reference?)

Such a beauty. Not even blonde, not even trashy, just sexy AND classy.
You were in good company … crowded, too.

Fillide again:

By the way,one of C’s best early paintings is in Fort Worth at the Kimball Museum,”The Cardsharps”.
Yep. Fillide is the bomb. Next time I’m in DFW, I’ll take time off from the Stockyards and hit the Kimball. Thanks, Scott M.

Wow,are they still open?Been about 40 years for me.
I don’t know! I never went there but I’ll ask my DFW friend about it. It looks fantastic (closed on Sunday, probably in honor of the Texas Blue Laws!

Had sawdust all over the floor, and this big taxidermed bear standing up.
Have a look at The Buckhorn Steak House in Winters, CA, up my way.
Recognize the artist who drew the building?
Ironic irony in that St. Catherine was a virgin herself. Beautiful painting.
I’m changing my name. I love “Fillide,” American pronunciation “Fil-a-dee.”
Texacalifillide.

My sister’s in Brattleboro,Vermont.Said the monster storm passed to the south of her.
My coo-coo-california-city is sunny and clear. I am glad your sister missed the monster storm.
Hi I’m Chucky!

I don’t understand the dust up. Chucky is perfect for the ubama administration. What did people expect? Free stuff comes with a price.

Loved Pauline Collins ever since “Upstairs Downstairs”.
Go see this one then fer sure, Scott M. You’ll love her more and forever.
Plus Dame Maggie…sounds like an embarrassment of riches.
First World Problems.
Dame Maggie has a first class upper-crust English accent in Downton Abbey. She’s like a Wodehouse character. Great actress.
Like Bertie’s Aunt Agatha!
Exactly!
The movie credits said the soundtrack was available through Decca. It’s not in Amazonia.
Thanks TCL, will take your recommendation.
Bring a tissue and an open mind! It’s a bit naughty in parts.
I’ll keep my mind open, but close my eyes,
Hilarious Superbowl ad parody: So God Made a Liberal. Somewhere Paul Harvey is smiling.

¡Olé! El SooperMexican is fantastico! Thanks for finding this one. I’m sending it on.
Was that filmed in San Francisco,Texi?
Probably not. If it had been, we’d be able to smell the urine through the monitor even.
Sounds like Main Street,Memphis
And on the 8th day God made earthquakes…
I.P. Knightly strikes again.
Knightly?? I.P. In broad daylight in any doorway in front of small children is more like it.
Yep. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too seriously.
Jimmy, thanks for the link. It’s no longer working, so everybody who hasn’t seen it should hie themselves to SooperMexican’s video page & laff yer butt off.
Huh. I just tried the link again, and it worked fine for me. Weird.
Keep cool with Coolidge

Coolidge held like 17 different elective offices before he became President, which is a record,so he was well prepared.
Grace Goodhue Coolidge

Swell portrait.
Grace, indeed.
I’ve had the book in my pre-order Amazonia tanker since forever. Coolidge was cool.

Did somebody say whiskey?
Oh, alas, it’s not paleo. Just gin & wine for me. But I don’t drink any more (I don’t drink any less, either.
)

So burn Harry Reid…well,no, bad odor.
