Not my favorite show… but this scene is great. Damn you Alec Baldwin.

So apparently this isn’t true?
I agree with the little feller. Awe-wik Boh-win is a very mean man.
Speaking of Baldwin, he’s back in the news telling a female reporter that he’d like to choke her to death, and making racial slur at her black photographer.
Annnnnnd now that 30 Rock’s aired its last episode, I can go back to liking Alec Baldwin a whole lots less. No excuse for any of this crass behavior, but the guy is a hell of an actor.

Herod’s Temple goes up in flames.Obviously a very bloody affair:the rebellion lasted 4 years, and hundreds of thousands died. The man on the white horse is Titus, son of Emperor Vespasian.
On FNC this morning, 70K dead in Syria. Arab Spring is still bustin’ out all over.
The Texas Tenors

Pretty good.Better than most of the stuff the NFL gives us at the Super Bowl.
Fabulous. Love them Texas boys, and if man-sequins were OK for Porter Wagoner, they’re OK by me.
Porter and Dolly!
My favorite Dolly story: When asked if it bothered her that people think blonds are dumb, she replied, “No, it don’t bother me ‘cuz I know I’m not dumb and I know I’m not a blond.” Hysterical (even though her breasts are too big).
Matter of opinion!
Johnny thought she was zoftig.
Zoftig?I don’t speak Welsh!

The crown of martyrdom

While the Lutheran and Catholic mandarins in Germany quaked before Der Fuhrer, these Christian souls stood up.
Another martyr, Dietrich Boenhoffer, whose biography I read (thank you, Floyd) recently. I recommend highly.

Four Martyrs…Boenhoffer is far right
I think you posted this for me before, so thanks again. I don’t want to forget him.
Very touching to see as one leaves Westminster Abbey.I was most moved by the Grand Duchess Elizabeth(far left),sister of the Empress Alexandra. After her husband,a tsarist governor, was assassinated, she took the veil and founded a nunnery in Moscow. She was murdered by the Bolsheviks.

Quite frankly I’m surprised Mindy McCready didn’t do this years ago…

It’s awful for her kids and parents (their dad committed suicide last month). I hope she made peace before she took the easy way out. In any case… prayers for her children and family.
It is difficult for me to imagine the depths of despair that would cause a mother to leave her children so absolutely final. May God rescue her soul and protect her sons.
It really bugs me that she claimed that bad things just sort of gravitated to her but most of what I read was just flat bad choices. You don’t accidentally end up with a man who beats the hell out of you, you don’t accidentally end up abusing drugs and alcohol. They are hard hard addictions that are very painful and difficult to defeat, but you’ll never beat them by calling them bad things that just happen. It’s also the height of selfishness that she left her boy with 2 parents dead to suicide. I’ve met children of suicide. It’s so hard for them to recover from and their chances are SO much higher of doing it themselves. And it doesn’t sound like she was exactly mother of the year before this. I will pray for her sons, they’ve got a lot of recovery ahead and none of the sin is their doing.
Amen to all you said, Tracy!

You hate the team owner showboat, but then you love him too.
Mark Cuban excluded.
What’s up with 3D for about the last week? Very slow coming up and I’m losing comments. I click “comment” and it goes to a “IE cannot display the page” and it’s gone. This has been happening quite regularly for nearly the whole last week. We had this problem before a few months back, but it started working OK. It’s at it again.
Noted,Fritz…we might have a Democrat mole here!
It happens to me, too. Also, speaking of conspiracies, the sound on my HD FNC goes out every other day. I think Mark Zuckerberg’s behind it.
I’ve never watched 30 Rock. I didn’t know it was so racially insensitive, especially the To Kill a Mockingbird reference in this scene. And I’m just wondering, harking back to the Chubby Checker post a few ago, do Alec Baldwin’s really short arms have a significant, correlational meaning?
His wallet is chubby… that’s all that counts for many
Yes…yes they do!
Never watched it either.
Coffee, krullers and celebration?
Ah, yes, President’s Day, when we give honor to George Washington as the father of our country, Abraham Lincoln and his sacrifice of self, and Barack Obama for his double Bogey last Friday!
(Rises in his best “I’m Spartacus” imitation…) I never watched the show, either. And judging from the ratings over the years, no one else really did, too. I am one of ‘those’ people who will not look past an artisans right to be a f’n douchebag to reward their work as liars and posers. I. Don’t. Care. How. Talented. There is an undefined, yet absolute line that once crossed, there is no return — like the event horizon on a black hole. Worthless Alec Baldwin and Teeny-Tiny Brain Fey can go on sucking forever out of my sight as far as I’m concerned.
YMMV
then you either watch no movies, TV, or listen to music — the latter of which I know you do Mr. Musicopedia. Therefore you must drown out or not read any interviews given by the artists in your ample music collection.
Ya. I just read Jack White compared Reagan to George Wallace. Something about race baiting. What a dooch. He’s not my boyfriend anymore.
Yeah, the guy who made Martin Luther King’s birthday a national holiday, is just like George Wallace. What a tool.
I don’t give a care when the LIV’s say they don’t like war (duh) or they want to eliminate hunger (duh), but when they get all toked up and start in with the asinine liberal Democrat talking point lies, it’s d-i-v-o-r-c-e time.
that’s what I do. I refuse to watch most interviews unless my husband, who is NOT effected (affected? I can’t be bothered to look up which I want) by useless rants and digs from the left, approves it first. He’s my little canary in the entertainment coalmine.
I’ll be honest, the longer I live, the less tolerant I am of these mewling neotenates on the cultural vanguard. What I once could let pass with a wink and a nod has become just a near continuous finger down my throat. However, since our media-soaked culture treats the bleats from these idiots as bigger news than illegal gun-running by our government, I am able to keep up with current trends and talent well enough to know that the diaper is long past time for changing. So…
Let’s see…I saw exactly two movies in the theater last year: The Avengers and Prometheus. In the last 5 years, I may have been to the theater 10 times, perhaps? So, no worries there. I’m spending that time and cash on picking up pieces of my past.
As for the boob tube (entendre abut TCR and the Unitasking thread redacted), I currently watch Rangers baseball (in season), Red Eye, Archer (trying to keep from reading more idiocy from some of the cast and creators…), Burn Notice (getting a bit long in the tooth…), Justified (BTW, how come no one mentioned T.O.’s turn as a gay spy on the aforementioned Archer?), Person of Interest, The Big Bang theory (Chuck Lorre is one unhinged rant and/or gay plot twist away from the edge, though), How I Met Your Mother (don’t judge…Cobie is teh hawt! Well, she was until she spoke up about gun control…), New Girl (still no judging — oh, Zooey…you should stop talking off script, too), 2 Broke Girls (again, don’t judge — and, yes, I have a thing for big
). You will notice that there are no NBC shows on my list.
boobedbrassy brunettes!Now to music.
Plenty of some of my former favotite musicians have joined my No Cash for Tools list (Santana, Crack the Sky, Bruce Cockburn just to name a few), and naturally, most of those from the last generation start out on it. I stopped reading music rags some time ago, since it was tedious wading through the apologists for marxist/socialist/fascist belief tongue bathe these credulous crooners into joining the choir. So I am glad I mostly listen to instrumental music that stays far outside of the mainstream. And Weird Al.
YMMV
I am Spartacus! Speaking as “Chip Douglas”, the cable guy, NBC has been assimilated. Comcast management are good lefties, ie, saying the party line, but when it comes to profits, the goals have been set, they will be met, or heads are gonna roll.
And…I repeat myself:

Well, you guys started it
Ted Mack? Or Ted Macht?
Did not! All my forebears were in America by 1903. As for the bastardos running the Third Reich…we had nothing to do with that!
Did you just call me a boob? *o^
Not at all.
Speaking of f’n douchebags, Jesse Watters asked dooch-bag-Glooney something about ubama, something like, “Do you think Obama is doing a good job?” Of course, Glooney answered in the positive and then scolded Watters, “And it’s President Obama. He’s the president of the United States, you know.”
So, Mother Texa jumped into her “way-back machine” and surprise, surprise, surprise, found the following, emphasis added:

And this:

Quiz:
1. Were Reagan and Bush presidents of the United States, or were they not really president presidents like ubama?
2. Is Glooney a typical Hollywood Democrat liberal hypocrite?
I know Glooney and Watters read Threedonia. Hi, guys!!

Like a Thanksgiving turkey, I’m done with Israel. Feeding the alligators so they’ll be eaten last.
There’s your sack of Jerusalem…
Pop quiz…name the man on the white horse!
I don’t understand your question. What white horse? What am I missing here?
Painting I posted this morning…Jerusalem the Golden.Compared to Paris and Rome, that town is eck.
Oh, duh. I looked at it this morning, too. So, the answer to the quiz question is: Titus, son of Emperor Vespasian.
But I have to do some more studying. I’m thinking the Sack of Jerusalem was without a shot fired …
And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. That one? (Revelation 6:2)
AS I said a few ago, I am currently in my “go-to-the-movies” mode. I saw Amour a few ago and Top Gun in 3D last night.
Amour is a French movie. I’m not just stating the obvious, I’m offering an efficient jump start critique. IOW, if you don’t like French films, avoid it. Otherwise, it is very good, existentialism, and all that.
Top Gun was fabulous. I saw the after-market 3D Titanic and am not impressed by the 3D-ism of either, but it is fun to watch them on the big screen. The theater was full of dads with their sons, most of whom were in violation of the PG-13 rating, and a row full of Tom Cruise fan-girls. When Top Gun was originally in the theaters (1986!), I remember my copper friends who took their sons to see it and then complained about the tonguey sex scenes. “Why’d they have to ruin the movie with that stuff?” Anywhoo, it was a blast to watch, Tom Skerritt is my boyfriend, and God bless Tony Scott.
Good Day to Die Hard, just like the two Die Hards before it in my book (sorry, ScottDS), fun action movie, but not worthy of the Die Hard situation/setting like the first two. Just something about a keeping the scenarios in contained environments which I prefer, upping the danger ante more effectively.
I think one of my favorite Simpson’s joke was “Die Already” on the theater sign in the background. I loved watching the background stuff on that show.
Amen to that, like watching Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker comedies in that regard. Just when you think you’ve caught everything on The Simpsons, the writers/directors point out more (or in-jokes) on the commentaries.
