Oprah Winfrey? I’ll pass. Though I might take a look at the book. Has anyone read it?

    • I read it in school. Quite good, as kids’ books go. Some cool sci-fi concepts and imaginative imagery, plus a touching father-daughter relationship that we don’t see in alot of children’s entertainment.

Amen. I immediately thought the same thing.

    • It’s hard to believe there was a time when she was a serious actress, not an insufferable, egotistical talk show host. Anything that keeps her away from ranting about race or feminism is okay with me.

  • Book is a kid’s classic that can be read by adults. Madeline L’Engle was an Episcopalian who believed in a version of Christian universalism, but is still sometimes sniffed at because of the Christian roots of her belief. I suspect that the Disney version will tone that down more.

Loved the book and so I’m kind of intrigued, but the presence of Ms. Winfrey and Mr. Gallifinakis may bump it to Netflix for me.
