So much about this painting…a quiet ecstasy for Saul, the disarmed killer, sword on the ground. But look at the horse, his face worried for his fallen master:”What is wrong?”,he seems to say.
Scott M! This is stunning. The horse is a tri-color Buckskin paint. It looks exactly like my horse. I never knew this painting existed. I love Caravaggio. I am now on a quest to find the print.
My Lord taps me on the shoulder all the time, when I least expect it, sometimes more than just a tap, and seeing this painting is one of those times. Thanks so much.
But does she work out and fight obesity in her country? And is she proud of her country for the first time in her adult life? Is her mouth as big as her a$$ which is almost as big as her ego?
Morning, all.
My dad’s back in the hospital, and has been since Tuesday. I think of all of you often and know that your prayers and good wishes are with us.
Interesting that this story is about an American family assaulted by the TSA and most folks won’t know about it unless they read a relatively obscure Fox News Radio commentator or a British news agency.
And as I noted at Facebook, I’m angry at the TSA for this outrage. I’m even angrier, however, at the numerous citizens who just walked by ignoring what these “security personnel” were doing to a 3-year-old girl in a wheelchair!! I pray that if I see this kind of thing going on that I have the strength to stand up for the family being violated by the TSA.
And don’t even get me started by the warnings from these thugs in black and blue that videotaping them is *illegal*!
Crandall, I haven’t flown for 4-5 years. My travel has been drives to and fro Los Angeles to see my Grand Sun. But like you, I hope I am one who would speak up. When I was a copper, we had to track the race of every person whom we pulled over, every traffic stop (Thank you, Christine Todd Whitman). The count was turned in end-of-shift. I wonder what the results would be if the TSA had the same requirement.
I’ve now flown to South Texas twice in the last two months. Every time I board the plane I have to prove myself innocent going through their damn process – removing my shoes, my belt, my jacket, EVERYTHING taken out of my all pockets, laptop computer pulled out of carrying case and placed in separate gray box, liquids of limited quantity placed in zip-lock baggie and removed from baggage… Then stand in the scanning machine and ALSO have to have my arms patted down because when I put them over my head, as their damn regulations require, my arms are outside the machine because I’m so tall.
I. HATE. THE. T.S.A.!!!
And I’m starting to not care too much for the Bush progeny who created it, putting in place an agency that’s metastasized into this bloated bureaucratic monster.
This paragraph pretty much states the case, at least as far as I’m concerned.
“The types of people who go through the process to obtain a concealed carry permit are exactly the people who any mother or father would want to be able to defend themselves on campus. A woman shouldn’t have to wait until it’s too late to find out if she’s actually going to be raped or not. We should allow competent, trained women the ability to defend themselves.”
Coffee, krullers and criminal government(ours)! Nothing much more to say!
Oh, I finally allowed my computer to update Windows 7 to IE 9! It sucks. Not near as usable as IE 8, but IE 8 was starting to not work, presumably because of planned obsolescence. You just have to love progress! NOT!
I’d vote for Bill Whittle for POTUS. For no other reason than to see THAT at a real SOTU speech. Those buffoons – Republicans and Democrats alike – need that kind of lecture. They need that kind of in-your-face leadership.
How many of you know how many assistant superintendents your school district has? Just wondering because my county has 11, each making over $100K a year. The counties next to us that are just as big, have none (and they pay more). They’re proposing to close my school on its 99 year anniversary, without letting it have its centennial celebration. I’m thinking they’re paying the same million they want to cut from us, on these redundant ass superintendent positions. Not to mention their county cars, gas cards, auto insurance, and expense accounts.
At the very minimum, taxpayers spend $12,000 on public education per student, per year; some estimates put the number as high as $16,000 (which is what my home state spends) or higher, but let’s be conservative and go with the 12k number. For a class of 30 kids, that adds up to $360,000. How much of that number do you think goes toward the teacher’s salary/benefits and the quality of the students’ education? I’m going to say not much. The rest of it gets sucked up by the administration. Yet all Democrats can do is whine that we need to spend more, and accuse anyone who disagrees of not caring about education. So every year we spend more and more, and the kids get dumber and dumber.
Meanwhile, private schools consistently deliver a high-quality education and only spend half as much per student on average. How do they do it? I’m going to guess, the absence of a bloated government bureaucracy or a stifling teacher’s union allows them to focus on actually, you know, educating the kids. Yet it never occurs to liberals to consider what works, only what makes them feel good.
The last number I heard for Ass’t. Supt. in Clark County, Nevada was around 25. As 5th largest system in the US, the exact figure is a Supt. for each of the County’s 7 regions and two Asst. Supts. for each region, which actually makes a total of 21 Supts. and the big kahuna making a total of 22 in the “Big Cheese” category! We do have a huge school system, but c’mon, really? All of them making in the area of $190+ K a year! It seems to me that if they let at least 20 of them take a hike, the quality of education would rise incrementally! They also need to give the NEA the big boot!

The latest outrage from some idiots working in the woefully misnamed “Transportation Security Administration” – ‘I don’t want to go to Disney World anymore’: Parents’ fury as TSA agents detain their crying wheelchair-bound daughter, THREE, and confiscate her stuffed animal

I think the TSA has outpaced the IRS as the most hated government agency in America.
No, not yet for this metaphorical rape victim..

The only true thing in that story is that Jan was hit by a pickup truck. The rest of the salacious details were made up by the Enquirer.

Learning how to vomit and urinate on demand were part of the defensive tactics training I received at the police academy. … yeah, right …
Was hoping we’d see some Battle of the Network stars after yesterday’s Open Thread clip. Yup, the 70s/80s a great time for entertainment.

Ungodly. Of course, living next door to LAUSD, hardly surprising.
