Clint Eastwood did justice to these books in his filming of them, but the literary Wales is just that much more implacable.

What day in August do I pay the Threedonia bill? The First.
Man! That was cheap and easy! Speaking of cheap and easy, how’s your dad?
It’s Texas Independence Day!
We could use a Sam Houston today.
Rick Perry and Ted Cruz are holding the line.
We sure could! When Sam Houston led the Republic he had to get the massive debt under control, so he the the military – army & navy. Yes, Texas had a navy.
Remember Goliad!

Some Netflix news.
THE ARTIST is on Netflix.com

It is a charming and delightful movie made in the spirit of the old silent classics. Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo are excellent leads with Dujardin seeming to summon the spirit of the old movie greats such as Clark Gable and Gene Kelly.
While you may debate whether or not it was worth the Best Picture Oscar, it is definitely worth seeing.
It was the best of the nominees in a VERY weak year.
Paul Delaroche,”The Execution of Lady Jane Grey”

Her family schemed to put her on the throne of England ahead of Mary Tudor.Sad story.
John Byrne, “The Sacrifice of Jean Grey” (1992, after 1980)
The entity that possessed her schemed to take over the universe. Same old story.

First great Texas oil boom.
And not a “greeny” or EPA weenie in sight!
The other great oil boom at the time was taking place at Baku,Azerbaijan, part of Tsarist Russia.
Coffee, krullers and co-mingling! Well, I’m running out of “C” words to use and there is one that I refuse to use, so you get what you get!

I’m really tired of folks linguistically transforming evil into a medical condition by declaring those who do evil as “sick”. Let us re-introduce evil into regular parlance.
Amen! Everything is a disease…murder, rape, sodomy, theft, drugs, alcohol! The left loves having a “no responsibility” scenario that covers all evil! They think there is no God, so why be personally responsible for anything? Rude awakenings will someday prevail!!!
Another breakfast idea,Fritz

“Harvard did me some double-plus good learnin’”
“WARNING: [Conservatives] Do Not Enroll: If you might want to insult Harvard down the line, go elsewhere” But don’t think I don’t want to have a free exchanges of ideas. “In fact, I think one of the tenets of any journalist organization — and certainly of the [Harvard] Crimson — is to foster free speech and foster debate.” But that doesn’t mean we want to debate some knuckle-draggin’ neanderthal who might … ya know … criticize this fine seminary of Left-wing dogma down the road …

This nitwit, who probably will make millions working for MSNBC or some branch of the federal government, is something else. You really need to read his commentary at the “WARNING” link above. It’s amazing that this kind of stupidity is coming from Harvard … then again, maybe it isn’t that amazing after all.
Oh, heck … I can’t help but post up this choice selection from the “Conservatives need not apply” editorial:
“In November, Fox News pundit and Harvard Kennedy School graduate Bill O’Reilly glibly referred to Harvard professors as “pinheaded” while implying that the Harvard community is morally suspect for its acceptance of Harvard College Munch, a group for students who share an interest in kinky sex. And last April, presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who holds a J.D. and MBA from our fine institution, lambasted President Obama for having spent “too much time at Harvard.”
“Such episodes of treachery are apparently attempts to curry favor with the more anti-intellectual members of our body politic. Yet it is finally time that we say enough is enough. We at The Crimson urge anyone who plans on one day scoring political points by maligning Harvard to neither apply, enroll, nor graduate from this fine institution.” emphasis added
I’m sorry, but I don’t find this at all funny. In fact, if that was my sister he shoves, I’d be breaking out a tremendous can of whup*ss on his sorry hide. http://www.weather.com/sports-rec/boyfriend-pushes-girlfriend-20130301
“Comments on the original YouTube post reveal she told him to push her if she didn’t do it herself.”
Then he’s an idiot for having such a nitwit girlfriend. And after I beat his *ss for listening to her, I’d give her a piece of my mind. Morons. All.
I’m curious though. If something went horribly wrong and a connection failed and she plummeted to her death could he be prosecuted? Would a comment made in passing before the event change the fact that she clearly did not want to go at the time of the event if she had dies as a result of his push?
If Google’s refusal to recognize 9/11 and other days of remembrance wasn’t enough to convert Outlaw to Bing, perhaps today’s homepage will do the trick?

All hail
MingBing!!!I already use Bing! But why would a picture of the Dallas, TX city hall entice me to switch over?
It was in honor of this, http://www.lsjunction.com/docs/tdoi.htm
From Rufus’ link… “The committee, consisting of George C. Childress, Edward Conrad, James Gaines, Bailey Hardeman, and Collin McKinney, prepared the declaration in record time. It was briefly reviewed, then adopted by the delegates of the convention the following day.”
And I have lived in Childress, TX, been through Gainesville a few times, argued cases in Hardeman County and been through McKinney Texas more than a few times as well. Towns and counties celebrate all sorts of Texas heroes.
I could think of better ways to do that but OK.
Such as Bob Wills Weekend in Turkey?
