Okay, I finally got around to watching this trailer, and it looks awesome. Finally, no more origin stories or Avengers baggage, just Tony and Rhodey kicking ass and taking names.
Is anyone else getting a Bin Laden-esque vibe off of The Mandarin here? I mean a bearded, long-haired terrorist who hangs out in dark caves and plans attacks against the U.S.? As long as they don’t throw in any lazy moral equivalence, I think he’s going to make an awesome villain. For any non-geeks who are wondering: the reason we see a closeup of his hands with a ring on each finger is that in the comics, The Mandarin gets his power from ten rings that have different magical properties (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandarin_(comics)#Powers_and_abilities). For the movie, I’m guessing the rings will be merely ornamental, although the terrorist group that Tony fought in the first Iron Man was called The Ten Rings, so it’s possible that this movie will reveal that they were working for The Mandarin.
I think I agree with Jimmy’s analysis… it looks like a Mandarin/Obama evocation here. I can stand a liberal sucker punch here or there if the overall vibe is “America f-yeah!”
WOW. Can’t wait.
“Just good old fashioned revenge” — awwwww yeeeeeaaaahhhhh!!! Was confident Shane Black wouldn’t disappoint.
Cool
So THAT’S why Chavez finally bit the bullet — Dr. Schplatt and I being amped over the same movie clip.
Think we could get Obama on the next one?
Freudian slip. Osama of course.
Totally
Meant to say, “My llama”
Looks like I’ll take a pass on this one. A movie pass, that is. It could be the best Marvel solo hero movie yet.

Can’t wait for the Breitbart’s analysis of the trailer, which will be it’s nothing but one long sucker-punch. All from watching the trailer.
