About a Sioux warrior before contact with Whites
Novelized account of Hugh Glass’ crawl to safety after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by Kit Carson
All five of Frederick Manfred Buckskin Man Tales are awesome, they are not a series though they cover different aspects of the 19th century American West.
The others:
Scarlet Plume(about 1862 Sioux Uprising), King of Spades
(set in 1870s Deadwood, Dakota) and Riders of Judgment
about the Johnson County range war of 1892.
“Please, hey, would we care to all get in line, GET IN LINE!!” Well, you know, they asked us to stay for tea and have some fun; He said that his friends would all drop by.
Guard, O my soul, against pomp and glory.

Proof, Texacalirose is right, they can be too big. ‘God, your boobs look big today.’
I have felt the hostility here for years and years. One can cut it with a

No…no they can’t!
So, Catholics have a new King, I mean Pope. Well, I have, recently, been informed of a small piece of history that I had been missing.
Charles XII also Carl of Sweden, Swedish: Karl XII, Latinized to Carolus Rex, was the King of Sweden from 1697 to 1718. Charles was the only surviving son of King Charles XI of Sweden and Ulrika Eleonora the Elder, he assumed power, after a seven-month caretaker government, at the age of fifteen.
In 1700, a triple alliance of Denmark–Norway, Saxony–Poland–Lithuania and Russia launched a threefold attack on the Swedish protectorate of Swedish Holstein-Gottorp and provinces of Livonia and Ingria, aiming to draw advantage as Sweden was unaligned and ruled by a young and inexperienced king, thus initiating the Great Northern War. Is it necessary to point out the triple alliance was ruled and manned by Catholics and Sweden’s boy king and his army were Lutherans? The good news is that Lutherans are not vengeful or this would be a great opportunity.
So, brought to you by the Lutheran church of Sweden, two public service messages.
The Carolean’s Prayer
Carolus Rex
Don’t mess with Sweden!
History, religion and Metal fans enjoy. See I told you Heavy Metal music was educational.
Lean mean Protestant machine…smile.
Boy-kings were always good sport
In all the previous clips, no boy-kings were harmed.
And Lars can test his swedish comprehension skills Here This translation comes off better than the english language version above.
Scott, four hours sleep? Are you practicing to be -fritz-? Speaking of which, where is our little swedish meatball covered in sauerkraut?
No Here
As a matter of fact, I know of one of my ancestors (2 of my family lines are descended from him) who fought in the Great Northern War. Of course the Norwegians were in the right. And Protestant as well.
I find it fascinating that this piece of history is omitted from any texts (agreeably limited) I have been taught from. It seems the perfect counter-point to our revolution’s shabby appearence by European standards. It’s no wonder Washington’s continentals were derided as amateurs.
From the description on Carolean’s Prayer: In 1682 king Charles XI started to reorganize the Swedish army which proved to be rather weak in the Scanian War (1674-1679). Each province was bound by contract to raise and supply a regiment of 1,200 men, called Caroleans.
During years of training the infantry tactics grew more efficient than anywhere else in Europe. The soldiers had to march on until they were close enough to see the white in their enemies’ eyes. Then the front row kneeled and the first two ranks fired their muskets at the same time.
The iron-hard discipline and courage which was needed for such offensive battle tactics was made possible by the strong belief in God every Carolean had. So the Swedish army often managed to defeat a numerically much larger host.
You’re right. It’s almost completely forgotten. I had to look it up when I discovered the ancestor. I appreciate getting the opportunity to see a reenactment.
Amateurs? I prefer underdogs, scrappy ass-kicking mutts if you will, Big Toe.
I’ve got to throw a flag here. That’s two “Stripes” references in as many comments!
“Boy-kings were always good sport”
Well, except for King Joffrey Baratheon. But if he gets out of line his uncle Tyrion can just slap him.

I liked it when he got a cow pie in his mug…I was pulling for Stannis to cut his head off.
Hi! How’s your noggin?
I don’t get it.
It’s science, we can’t help it!
Doesn’t Adam Carolla fit in there somewhere?
(Too many spears for me this morning, I guess … but I am smarter than a sixth grader).

LBJ was a repugnant human being, though I did enjoy the paid day off I got each year at his birthday when I worked for the state.
Getting paid for doing nothing….LBJ would have loved that, mah fellow Mercuns!
Hey, it’s the Ides of March! I should order a Caesar salad for lunch and then stab it 27 times before eating it. Et tu, crouton?
The waitress must be without reproach.
Is JmmyC an honorable man?
“Et tu Brute?”
Brutus’ reply, “No, I ain’t et yet!”
That jokes older than me,Fritz!
And it be older than me, as well as me be older than thee!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Whatever my ex-girlfriends told you, they were lying.
You are early. It may be the 15th of March by that Papist calendar, but according to the calendar instituted by G. Julius Caesar, Pontifex Maximus, it’s only ante diem VI nones Martis, 2766 A.U.C.
Filthy heathen.
Speaking of Caesar, did you see that Joss Whedon is bringing “Much Ado About Nothing” to the Big Screen?

Home schoolers alert. There is a lot of buzz on my twitter about this. I’m sure
StacyTracy can tell us more about it.(I can hardly believe that I just wrote “my twitter.”)
Buzzing and Twittering? It all sounds like doped up bird life!
Oops, I forgot the San Francisco Treat!
Two great articles from CITY JOURNAL.
First, “LAPD Remade”. A fascinating article that goes nto how William J. Bratton helped the Los Angeles Police Department after a decade of scandals (Rodney King, Rampart) and brought crime rates down. It also distinguishes “Broken Window” from “Zero Tolerance”. The LAPD tried the latter (Operation Hammer in the 1980s) before and it was disastrous. It also follows Brattons career from working in Boston during the Busing Crisis up until Los Angeles. Pretty good read.

The second is a short one by Heather MacDonald about Bloomberg’s anti-teen pregnancy campaign and the ensuing backlash from groups such as Planned Parenthood.

Funny satire of the day: if classic movies were edited by anti-gun zealots.
Let’s not give them any ideas.
Forgot about E.T. and the infamous walkie-talkies?
In honor of the day. \m/ -_- \m/
Well right in the middle of an insightful response my satellite modem shuffled off it mortal coil. It’s science, it can’t help it! I’ll be going dark until resolved. My phone doesn’t like the internet and it tells me so loudly and constantly.
Wildblue wishes to partially acknowledge the possibility of a chance that some of their subscriber’s internet services may not possibly be working to its fullest potential in selected areas, maybe. Something very much like that was announced when I called in. As a highly trained communication technician we use the technical or jargon term “It’s f**king broke”. But somewhere, over the rainbow, the god of broadband has reclaimed the power of the air, and “it’s working now”.
Al Gore felt your pain!
GOProud and Chris Christie were not invited to CPAC because of the former’s advocacy for gay marriage and the latter’s “limited future in the GOP” but DONALD TRUMP was allowed to speak?
Can someone explain?
As a highly trained communication technician we use the technical or jargon term “It’s f**king broke”. This applies here too.
Yes, I can. The GOP allowed itself long ago to get caught up in social issues that have nothing to do with the Constitution and continues to water down its message by trying to serve two masters.
