Keep in mind this is after the Tet Offensive — the one where we destroyed the Vietcong. Within weeks after this — LBJ (knowing if he’d lost Cronkite, he lost Joe Public) turned down Westmoreland’s request for additional troops, fired Gen. Westmoreland (perhaps needed, but bad timing) and declined to run for reelection. This is the monster held up as the example of journalistic integrity? The man is partly responsible for the deaths of thousands of American soldiers, airmen, and marines and perhaps millions of Vietnamese. He may not have pulled any triggers, but he helped push the first domino.
The media and the Dems have a history of this people — distortion, personal destruction and quitting on wars. They don’t have one voice of God-type anymore, but a cacophony of hyenas — same result.
I always thought that Walter Cronkeit was a despicable human being. And he is.
You don’t know the half of it,Stephanie…I’m a shade older than you(b.8/17/58).The counterattack on the Viet Minh was one of America’s greatest feats of arms, yet Cronkite,Huntley,Brinkley,Reynolds,Smith made it look like a defeat. They had an agenda…it succeded
