Drew Pearson catches the original “Hail Mary” in the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoffs vs. the Vikings.

Another guy got screwed by Hall of Fame voters this past week. Drew Pearson has better overall numbers than Lynn Swann and better than John Stallworth over the same period (who played three years longer) both of whom are in the Hall — deservedly so in my opinion. He has two Super Bowl rings, iconic receptions (1974 Thanksgiving classic, the Hail Mary, the catch against the Falcons in the 1981 Playoffs and the catch that almost — but not quite ruined the 49ers “The Catch” in 1981 — but for a single finger…). I don’t give a rat’s rear end about Andre Reed, Tim Brown, or Cris Carter until Pearson and the Raider’s Cliff Branch get in. Pearson was a dominant receiver in his era. Oh yeah… Cliff Harris also got screwed.
