Joe Biden Hearts NASCAR

What’s worse than making a gaffe? Being unfunny

  • As a NASCAR fan, I don’t think the sport’s lingo really translates to anything but, well, racing.

I don’t know, Mr. Kane, we have tendency in my office to be all loud and tell the other peron, “THAT JUST HAPPENED!” And then fall down laughing.
And if you really egg them on, the girls in production seem to know the whole Baby Jesus lunchtime blessing by heart.

  • I wonder how many hours CNN would have gotten out of that Bidenisms.

Maybe I’m just not paying enough attention these days, but it seems to me that with Joe Biden sounding like a raging buffoon every time he opens his mouth there isn’t a lot of talk from the Left about Pres. Bush’s lack of smarts or sounding eloquent.

Of course, with all the focus on Gov. Palin’s shoes and wardrobe changes, President Bush could be bombing the crap out of Iran and we wouldn’t know.

Did anyone catch the audio of Hugh Hewitt with Wolf Blitzer? Hugh is going on and on about tightening polls and wealth redistribution and Wolf tries to stop him cold with, “So are any of your callers talking about Gov. Palin wardrobe?” With a word Hugh shot him down: “No.”

Here’s one for the Media Truth Squad: I heard on Laura Ingraham show, some time ago, that Larry King stops by a barber shop every morning just to get his hair combed. Not cut. Not trimmed. Combed. Are King’s shoulders so malformed from stooping over that desk that he can’t reach his head? Inquiring minds want to know.

  • My bad, that first sentence should have read:

I wonder how many hours CNN would have gotten out of that if the Bidenism was uttered by Gov. Palin. It probably would have led the Sunday News Shows.

  • Sarah Palin’s wardrobe costs don’t bother me. I suppose that’s what campaign funds are for, to pay campaign expenses. That money has all been handed over voluntarily. It’s not like it’s tax money or something. It’s also been over covered. It should of been a mention in the paper one day and one day of broadcast coverage and that’s it. Kind of that breezy thing you might close a show out with or maybe put in your gossipy column. By the same token, I don’t think anyone’s really surprised by Larry King’s habit. He’s a media prop. If there’s any legitimacy to talking about the cost of her wardrobe it’s that there’s a disconnect between the idea that the campaign could spend all this money on clothes, to pledge to be “regular folks.” That’s very naive. People who campaign for president for the two major parties aren’t regular folks in our system. They all likely spend campaign cash that would boggle our humble minds on things we would find incredible. In the spirit of full disclosure my son and I are going tomorrow to get haircuts that will cost us $40 combined with a generous tip. we go about every six to eight weeks. If you’re reading, Mr. John Edwards, that’s only one zero after the 4.

    Chuck,

I agree with your assesment and that’s one of my major complaints with the media. That wardrobe story should have been reported just as you suggest. The reason it isn’t is the same reason Nancy Grace and Greta van Sustern have hour long shows, 5 days a week and Springer and Dr. Phil are famous.

We get the government we deserve. We get the press we deserve.

Just to be clear, my complaint isn’t “with the media.” It’s with the media that our money and eyeballs apparently request. The MacNeil-Lehrer report is not the most watched program on television. Maybe if they had more footage of men getting hit in the groin with footballs…
