We’ve talked a lot about Obama’s speech at Notre Dame and the controversy surrounding it. Today I’d like to talk about a commencement address that was a little less polarizing. Whether pro-life or pro-choice, Republican or Democrat, believer or atheist, there is one thing we all can agree on.
This man ain’t none too bright:

Cue comedy trombone.
The unlucky graduates of Wake Forest University were forced to listen to Vice President Biden’s rambling remarks after the scheduled speaker, Tommy Chong, failed to arrive for the ceremony. A frantic search for a replacement turned up the fact that Biden was available at short notice.
In a half-hearted introduction, WFU president Nathan Hatch told the class of ‘09, “He’s better than nothing, I guess.”
A review of the transcript of Biden’s speech reveals numerous instances of incoherence and presumably inadvertent insult:
I believe so strongly, as you may recall when I was here in October, not in you particularly but your generation…
Folks, we’re either going to fundamentally change the course of history, or fail the generations that come after us, because change will occur. Non-action is action, unlike most generations.
There’s not a single issue on this President’s plate that will not yield a change — just merely by ignoring it, it will change.
When I graduated, all had not changed utterly yet. Today, it has. And in the last 12 to 15 years, a terrible beauty has been born. It’s a different world out there than it has been any time in the last millennia. But we have an opportunity to make it beautiful, because it is in motion.
This is not bravado. This has been the history of the journey of America — never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, never have the American people let their country down at rare moments, similar moments in our history. And it’s a journey we’re all going to take together.
In an interview after the ceremony Hatch admitted, “I was wrong. But you have to warm up the crowd, and ‘better than nothing’ was at least something I could say with a straight face. But, yeah, in retrospect I oversold him.” The university president then turned to one of his aides. “Are you sure Emo Philips wasn’t available?”
All that is missing is Mike and the Bots.
Rufus, here: Your wish is my command, Kit. I know Mike’s around here somewhere, but for now you’ll have to settle for the bots.

We’ll send him cheesy speeches, the worst we can find. He’ll have to watch them all.
Best moment: Tubular Boobular Joy!
Do you think he was told to sneak the word “change” in there a few times?
I can just see his poor speechwriters, tears streaming down their cheeks. “Why won’t he just read what we wrote? Dear God, stick to the script!”
An Emo Phillips reference! That guy was awesome! (“Is” awesome? Is he still alive?)
Oh. My. GAWD! I think Miller was correct when he said Biden was merely that to give Obama scale..like a short guy who hangs out with dwarves.
“Non-action is action, unlike most generations.”
The Dao of Joe Biden
“just merely by ignoring it, it will change…”
- The D’oh! of Joe Biden
(I smell a book, here.)
He does remind one of Homer Simpson, doesn’t he?
All I can say in response to what Joe said is,”huh?”
Out in the audience a kid yells..WHAT THE BLEEP ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! Not even Joe knows. Miller also said Biden Hallucinates his own existence. That he might not even really be Vice President or even a former Senator…
[...] Pres. would loan him a speechwriter. Or two. Or three. You can find the highlights here: http://www.threedonia.com/archives/7502 c) Acknowledged the fact that Obama has NO IDEA what to do with the Gitmo detainees despite [...]
