The Man … black or otherwise

Picked up Johnny Cash’s America yesterday (a more complete review once I watch the DVD this weekend) and even though the liner notes tout interviews with Snoop Dogg, Sheryl Crow and other members of the Kool-Aid KKKrowd (up yours, Cube, I’m taking it back for creative purposes) like John Mellencamp, Al Gore and Tim Robbins, the CD ends on four moments of the Man in Black’s brilliance: “Ragged Old Flag,” “Song of the Patriot,” the only palatable version of “This Land Is Your Land” I know, and “I am the Nation.”

Rest in peace, Johnny (and June Carter). I know he continues to be loved by fans on both sides of the aisle, one of the many things I love about his music and persona, but he truly did put country first, something those on the left will apparently never understand.
