Not even Benedict Arnold could make Washington use vulgar language…. Iran, cap and trade, Honduras, economy, debt, automobile industry, White House press office…. It’s almost enough for a Billy Graham/Pope BXVI poster both yelling OMFG!

Did I mention Honduras? Probably the truest show of colors yet by the man — despicable.

Hugo’s little protege tried to get back into Hondurus yesterday…NUTHIN DOIN!

  • Kit

When will the cap-and-trade bill be voted on in the Senate?

Is there a chance the Healthcare bill will be defeated?

  • Scott M.

Dems have a couple of problems in the Senate, namely Byrd and Kennedy, who are too sick to vote

  • Fred

I’m no fan of Zelaya, but he is the legally elected president and would be for another 6 months; so, regardless of intentions from either side, it was a coup. Rather than exile him, they should have let him break the law and arrested him.

As it stands, we are either pro-communist or anti-democratic.

    • Fred, I’d be a little more inclined to agree with you if you hadn’t already demonstrated your disdain for constitutions. You seem to have a distinct preference for increasing the power of government beyond all reason, at least when doing so promotes leftist/marxist goals.

      • Fred

How was my support for equal enforcement of lobbying laws in CT a disdain for the constitution? If anything, that was anti-church. But, I digress…

Regarding Honduras, I wish the congress and the judges had followed the law and handled the wannabe-communist and Chavez-lackey Zelaya as he should have been handled. He should have been given just enough rope to hang himself. As it is, the only side that broke the law was the judges and the military.

        • Your support for “equal enforcement” of unconstitutional laws does not suggest any degree of respect for constitutions in general. At best, it shows that you are not well-informed about the meaning of the First Amendment.

Given that, why should anybody listen to your interpretation of the Honduran constitution?

          • Fred

From Blumenthal’s letter: “The legislature as soon as possible must clarify or revise those laws to ensure that they continue to serve their important purposes—avoidance of corruption or the appearance of corruption arising from paid lobbying—while also preserving and encouraging legally protected political expression.”

Which is the only correct and proper solution. Fix the laws once and for all; don’t exacerbate the situtation by selectively enforcing them, which only muddies the water down the line.

          • If you believe now that the law shouldn’t have been applied to the Church’s activities in this case, why didn’t you then? If you honestly think that the law shouldn’t be applied selectively, why do you call Blumenthal’s direction to the OSE “the only correct and proper solution?” He’s selectively not enforcing this law against the Diocese of Bridgeport. The law is still on the books, and no court has declared it unconstitutional, and yet he’s directing the OSE to ignore it in this case.

        Mike! You changed your avatar!

I preferred to see the little kid!

  • Stephanie

Fred so your on the side of fascists dictators? GOOD FOR YOU! Great. Fidel Castro must make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Do you have a poster of Stalin in your room instead of Heidi Klum to?

    • Fred

Wow, no wonder women have the repuatation for being overly-emotional and irrational…

No, I’m not on the side of facist dictators. Seeing as Zelaya cannot even be accused of being either, that’s not only irrational – it’s non-sensical. I’m on the side of law and order, regardless of ideology. Process matters. The second we hold the “good guys” to a different set of rules as the “bad guys”, we’ve all lost.

Is Zelaya bad for Honduras? Hella, yes. Was he heading in the wrong direction? Abso-fraggin’-lutely. Had he broken a single law of the Honduran constitution when removed from power? No.

      • Stephanie

Fed first off you mistake sarcasm for emotionality. No I am not emotional about you I am making fun of you. You come here defending a man who basically tried to trash his nations constitution. He said thats what he would do. The Honduran Supreme Court Oh Hell no, as did the nations congress. The military went and kicked his fat ass out. Now you can defend that but you do at the expense of giving hugs to thugs like Raoul Castro and Hugo Chavez. I mean what kind of woman could ever respect a guy who does that eh Freddie? Please tell me. Maureen Dowd maybe but then she is so hard up she has put ads in Craiglist looking for love. Maybe you could have a shallow conversation about the lawful rule of Zalaya with her.

        • Stephanie

Freddie also proves that the word Leftwing man is an oxy moron. He ignores the facts and attacks me personally, ala Letterman against Palin because thats how leftwing “men” roll. Isn’t that right Freddie?
Fact 1# Zalaya ran as a centerist and then took a hard left turn when he took the Presdency.
Fact 2# He wanted to change the honduran constitution. The people didn’t vote for that. The Honduran Supreme Court said no. So did the Honduran Congress.
Fact 3# He is a stooge of Hugo Chavez getting support and money from both Chavez and the Castro’s.
Fact 4# The Army agreed with the Judicial and Legislative branch of the Honduran Gov. and chased that leftist scumbag out.
Fact 5# if he wasn’t trying to set himself up as Dictator for life ala Chavez Freddie dear what the hell was he trying to do? He sure as hell wasn’t supporting the free markets was he?
So Freddie you can sit there and make up little stories to yourself or embrace the stupidity that Obama has barfed all over the Honduran issue but you’d be wrong. You need to come at it from facts. Fact is Zalaya broke the law and is now a man without a country.

          • Fred

Fact 1# Zalaya ran as a centerist and then took a hard left turn when he took the Presdency.

That makes him a fascist dictator?

Fact 2# He wanted to change the honduran constitution. The people didn’t vote for that. The Honduran Supreme Court said no. So did the Honduran Congress.

Yes, he did want to change the constitution. He was planning on holding a non-binding referendum the day he was ousted (so the people could vote on that). And, he probably meant to fake the results, a la Iran. That’s why he was ousted. Which is why I state it was a mistake. He hadn’t actually done anything yet. He planned, but he was never given the chance to actually break the law. Which is why they ousted him rather than arrest him.

Fact 3# He is a stooge of Hugo Chavez getting support and money from both Chavez and the Castro’s.

True. Which is why I stated I don’t actually like him.

Fact 4# The Army agreed with the Judicial and Legislative branch of the Honduran Gov. and chased that leftist scumbag out.

And, the military later admitted that they broke the law doing so, but planned on being acquitted.

Fact 5# if he wasn’t trying to set himself up as Dictator for life ala Chavez Freddie dear what the hell was he trying to do? He sure as hell wasn’t supporting the free markets was he?

No, he probably was trying to set himself up as a mini-Chavez. But he didn’t get the chance to actually do anything.

      • Are you claiming to be more familiar with the Honduran constitution than the Honduran Supreme Court?

It’s okay to disagree with Obama once in a while, Fred. (After all, it’s not like you’re using your last name. No one will know.) It might even be healthy.

        • Stephanie

Heh Mike. The guy is just here astroturfing. But how he can sit there and say something that baseless and uninformed is amazing. Cripes I’d never leave the house if I was as ignorant as Freddie has proved to be.

        • Fred

No, I’m claiming that had the Supreme Court been able to charge him, they’d have arrested and charged him rather than oust him. Just as I hope we would follow the rules and impeach a president rather than exile him to Canada.

I do disagree with Obama. Often. The is one of many.

But, I disagree with how Honduras handled this more.

          • Stephanie

            Sure you do.

          • Stephanie

Fred you are here giving Obama props. Your not here disagreeing with him. I would bet twenty years ago you were marching for the Sandinistas. The fact you won’t address the facts that Zalaya is supported by Chavez and Castro is telling.
The fact you disrespect what the people wanted is also telling, kinda like what Obama says about what the American people want. But hey..its all good. Obama knows best.
Honduras did what they did. Its not our call to say how they should handle their own issues when a guy who is a leftwing dictator wannabe gets outsted.

  • Scott M.

BO is like a junkyard dog when the Honduran military acts to preserve the Constitution from a Communist, but he purrs like a kitten when Khameini and his Gestapo slaughter freedom fighters in Tehran….

  • Scott M.

By the way, that old sh*t Robert McNamera died at age 93…

  • Scott M.

Body Count Bob..may he rest in hell, along with LBJ and the rest of those Democrats who started a war that they had no intention of winning

  • Kit

    Mike,

    Is that man you?

  • Fred

Actually, Steph, I didn’t bring up Obama, you and Mike did. I have not mentioned if or how I agree or disagree with him on his position on Honduras. For the record, I don’t agree. Not that it matters, you’ve already made up your mind and made it all about left vs right. So be it. But, just remember that you “disrespect what the people wanted” just as much as I supposedly do. The difference is I think that following the law trumps politics, even if I vehemently disagree with the politics.

  • Stephanie

Fred again gotta ask, what part of the Honduran Supreme COurt ruled Zalaya your hero wasn’t following the law? They said he wasn’t? Your point? Or does the Honduran Supreme Court have any sway? I hate having to repeat myself but what the hell: Zalaya wanted to change the constitution. He took a hard left turn and then started playing with the Honduran constutition, to the point the Honduran Supreme Court said no no no. Who broke the law FREDDIE? Apparently in Freddies world its OK for a President to do what ever he wants. Even if its against the law and the popular opinion, as expressed by the HOnduran Supreme court who enforced the laws and the Military who did teh bidding of the people and their congress by dragging this wanna be Castro out of his bed and kicking his fat butt out. THey did the right thing.
Freddie you have to understand a military officer takes an oath to preserve and protect his contutution against all enemies foriegn and domestic. Zalaya was a domestic enemy of the state. Now he is gone. Good riddance.

    2 Questions:

    (1) When is Furious D going to go on the blogrool? http://dknowsall.blogspot.com/

    (2) When is Mike Kriskey going to be on the Dramatis Personae? He ain’t listed!

  • Scott M.

    “Dramatis Personae”…is that Welsh,Kit?

  • James Lileks on his dog during Fourth of July fireworks:

“At least this year was easier on Jasper; we figured his deafness would make it less traumatic, even though they can read the booms with Super Dog Sense. A few years ago he put scratches in my car door trying to claw his way into the car, and I wondered if he thought the other-place-quick-going-thing would take him away. Two years ago he tried to burrow through a wall in the furnace room. This year he heard little, but when the screeches of the rockets started, he correctly interpreted them as the howls of damned souls, and went down to the garage. My wife let him into the car. He sat there until it was over. It must be immensely frustrating: he senses the peril, but we do not. What do I have to do to warn you? What must I do to make you understand?”

  • Stephanie

    Thats hilarious Mike!

  • Lileks is great, especially about his dog. That paragraph made me think of my poor old Sam. She (Sam was a she) was such a docile animal. A very even-tempered black lab mix. But fireworks drove her insane with terror. She’d be inside the house, but we’d have no idea where. She could have been under or behind any piece of furniture, hoping against hope that she’d survive the night. All we could do was leave every door open and assume we’d see her in the morning.

She was always extra happy on the 5th, though. And why not? She’d cheated death again!

  • Homomuslimocommunofactist Vegitarian

So, Stephanie like to insult the masculinity of _every_ person who dares express an opinion politically “left” of Spiro Agnew, then? Good to know.

    Scott M:
What exactly is Obama supposed to do about Iran that _wouldn’t_ make the government clamp down harder on the demonstrators? Invade?

  • Stephanie

The trolls are getting really hilarious. This is better than an episode of Friends or Wings. Keep yapping freakshow, I have popcorn, diet soda…watching your tap dancing is better than Monday Night Football. But hey some people don’t care if they are laughed at. Its all about the attention right troll boy?
