Threedonia’s traffic rank: 307,200!!!!

Libertasfilmmagazine’s traffic rank: 1,731,303

HAH!

Other interesting things I learned about Threedonians at Alexa, below the fold.

#1: HOW DID YOU GET HERE?
“Kriskey cream?” – That explains why Mike is always pushing the donuts at staff meetings. (And you thought I was going to go blue on you, didn’t you — DIDN’T YOU!?)

“Dog is stand for *” – I keep telling Floyd to do more “dog is stand for” focused posts, but you can’t tell Floyd anything. He’s always in another world, thinking about moobs.

“Category wank” – Unless it’s a Salma Hayek day or Wanks is discussing her do-me pumps, these folks probably come away disappointed.

“pyrat ay” – Threedonia.com: number one with people who can’t spell “pirate”. We’re so very proud.

#2 WHOOOO ARE YOU? (WHO-WHO… WHO-WHO)

In Alexa world, these charts represent how over/under represented our site is among visitors, among different demographic categories. The bigger the green bar, the more heavily weighted the site is toward that demographic (compared to the web as a whole) and the bigger the red bar, the more underrepresented. Our most typical visitor, it would seem, is college age female who doesn’t go to college. I don’t know how Alexa knows this, but I suspect that we can attribute this to the fact that the college age males who don’t go to college are pretty much surfing pron 24/7. I also find these demographics hard to believe, since – with the notable exceptions of Kit, Blackhawk and Jake (who WAS here) – everybody here pretty much seems to be at or quickly approaching the age where we can tell AARP to shove their healthcare-bill loving membership offer up their ass.

#3 WHAT SHOULD WE BE WRITING ABOUT?

There’s always room on the web for more Grover Cleveland, but Spartacus? Really? Alexa analyzes our site and decides we need gladiators?

I’m blaming Floyd.

#4: WHERE ARE YOU?

So don’t be surprised by the increasing number of posts in German and Portugese folks. We gotta build readership somehow.

We recently had one of our infrequent meetings of the Threedonian Ruling Council of Elders. It was fun, even though Floyd forgot to bring the bean dip (again) and Rufus insisted on trying on Wank’s do-me pumps, which was about as disturbing as you imagine. Nonetheless, we discussed, we argued, we laughed, we cried and – at the end of the day – we voted and found that we are all in agreement. Here’s the dealio:

As you know, we’ve always exerted a pretty light touch when it comes to comments. You, our readers, are overwhelmingly polite, civil and entertaining. There is the occasional dust-up in the comments, and that’s OK too. A good argument can be a lot of fun. But every once in a while a comment appears that appears to be borderline – and sometimes overtly – racist. None of us are comfortable with that. And the bottom line going forward is this: if a comment sounds racist to us, it’s going to get booted.

Comments are used, unfortunately, to smear a site and those who run it. The implication being that if the site’s administrators allow a comment to stand, they tacitly approve of the sentiment expressed. When it comes to racism, none of us approve. Furthermore that issue – which is so often used by liberals to smear, distort and dismiss conservative and libertarian ideas – is so volatile that we believe there should be no question of how strongly we disapprove.

At our site, racism most often raises its head when it comes to discussions involving Islam, which is ironic of course, since Islam isn’t a race, but that’s how it plays out. While there are nuances to the way each of us views the on-going war between jihadists and the secular/Judeo-Christian west, none of us – repeat none – believes that “kill all the Muslims,” or “all Muslims are evil,” or any similar sentiment is appropriate, productive or morally justified.

It should be noted here that three of us have real-world experiences in Muslim nations to draw upon: Outlaw flying about during three tours in Iraq with people shooting at him; Rich running around oil refineries in Saudi Arabia with people shouting at him; and Wankette who is half-Iranian – her father is a naturalized U.S. citizen – and who lived and worked in Baghdad and in Rabat for a few years and who has many, many friends and cousins from that part of the world. All of their experiences in those lands confirm what you would expect: most of those living in these Muslim nations are good, peace-loving people who just want to get on with their lives.

Unfortunately, the fundamentalist hierarchy – which is really more of a political movement than a religious one – dominates people’s lives in most of these nations. At best, this hierarchy tromps on women’s rights, prevents freedom of worship and stifles western ideals. At worst, they kill, maim and enslave those who would stand in their way. What is needed is a worldwide “Muslim enlightenment” that will undermine the power of the Islamists and allow Muslims to blend secular values in with their religion. There are many Muslims working toward this end – who reject the fundamentalism that the theocrats demand – and they represent the best hope of a lasting peace.

Meanwhile, in our view, hundreds of millions of Muslims around the world live under the thumb of theorcratic tyrants. The reluctance of these Muslims to criticize the tyrants does not reflect silent assent, but fear. The war changed in Iraq when the common people were made to feel safe and – when that happened – they overwhelmingly rejected the jihadists. That’s why a strong, independent Iraq is so important to the west and so dangerous for the terrorists. If one Muslim nation can live under an enlightened, secular government, more may follow. That ultimately should be the goal.

Other topics, like illegal immigration or affirmative action, may also lead to racially-charged comments. It is one thing to want to secure the border or work towards a truly color-blind society. It’s quite a different thing to make crude comments about Mexicans, blacks, or any
other ethnic group. Such comments will not be tolerated.

Bottom line: blanket statements that seem to dehumanize groups based on race, color or creed will be rejected. Other than that – have at it.

Hail Threedonia!

Welcome home Threedonians. We trust you had a relaxing and fun weekend. Floyd R. Turbo here with this weekend’s recap. I know most of you were probably <del datetime="2010-06-01T04:35:41+00:00">drunk off your asses</del> celebrating the greatness that is the American military and so had little time to check out all the juicy content here at Threedonia including Mlle. Wankette’s Summer Reading List. Or perhaps, like Rufus you were so busy “waxing your Fiat” that you missed Outlaw’s post celebrating Soviet hussies. Just because a girl’s a commie doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to have a good time. All girls are fun, but some are more fun than others. In either case, Rufus will never tire of the waxing.

Other highlights include my wife’s awesome explosion pics, Bill Maher wishing The Duke was President, and Eric’s paean to the Diceman (hey! He needed the money!) and time travel movies (where he tries to convince us Somewhere in Time isn’t his favorite time travel movie. Sure thing Eric!

In addition, we have the beginnings of a nice conversation as to whether talking about one’s own gonads and sphincter is Presidential, Texan, both, or neither,. Continuing in that vein (get it?) we have the Iron Lady doing Monty Python, a superhero that sh!ts his armor, a double shot of Mark Steyn and P.J. O’Rourke writing about dead people before they’re dead.

Finally, we here at Threedonia do nothing if not give serious commentary and so we have Outlaw posting on the dearth of military medals being awarded during the recent conflict, John FN lifting the rock that is professional wrestling and how that may affect the Connecticut senatorial election this fall, Eric’s moving story about a WW2 vet, I express my gratitude to my great uncle Jack, and Outlaw pays tribute to his fallen comrades.

Enjoy Threedonians! Remember, just because you’re <del datetime="2010-06-01T04:35:41+00:00">too effin’ lazy to scroll down a bit</del> busy on the weekend doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun.

Threedonians… we know many of you are too <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">drunk</del> “busy” to come around these parts on the weekend. Whatever it is you choose to do with your free time is of course <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">our</del> your business so we (meaning I) have decided to provide a weekend recap. This idea is of course <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">stolen from many other blogs</del> exclusive to me, nevertheless… if you <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">are too lazy to effing scroll down a bit</del> missed or failed to come to Threedonia this weekend you missed the following highlights (and much more):

You missed Rich’s recently unearthed striptease video and his very own Zodiac sign. To counter the horror of that our own very sexy and dear Wankette posted this Weekend 5 in honor of her own Mom. Outlaw sprinkled dust in the eyes of every Threedonian causing <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">me to cry like a little baby</del> inadvertent ocular moisture due to the irritation by particulates magically spread by this video of returning soldiers. We even had, believe it or not, a couple of posts about President Obama. What does the Korean situation tell us about our man Barry? And what would Slim Pickens say about Barry’s cunning linguistics? Not to mention our very own Outlaw — a grumpy one that. Or how he rates with his “peers” via Threedonia’s resident <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">pencil-neck geek</del> scientist Rich?

If politics is not your cup of tea, then perhaps you’re curious as to what a sequel to The Incredibles might look like. And finally — <del datetime="2010-05-24T20:05:38+00:00">in a most self-serving</del> in a giving way — perhaps you need a little Sunday Gospel on Monday?

O.K., let’s have some fun today. There is no business more un-PC than the movies; they discriminate based on age, looks, skin color, gender, weight… Well, let’s pretend the script to Threedonia.com has just been optioned and a major studio is doing a casting call.

With very few exceptions, none of us really know what any of us look like. So, based on what you’ve learned from the site, who would you cast to play the various characters who frequent Threedonia? You can choose as many of the myriad Post’ers and Comment’ers who appear here as you like, and you can even reference multiple actors and actresses to define the same person.

And, if you desire, you can include actors or actresses people most compare you to in real life. In other words, who are the famous people the people who really know you say you are like?

Ready, steady, GO!

Update: Ignore the constraints of the space-time continuum. You can choose actors who are deceased, or pick an era. Like:”young Marlon Brando” vs. “mumu wearing Marlon Brando.”

At least for our own Outlaw. At least for now.

Outlaw has traded in his pilot’s seat on a rotary-winged aircraft based in Iraq in favor of a new role as self-loading freight on transports bound for the good old US of A. When last heard from, he was somewhere in Europe on a lay-over, watching Marines swill beer, but unable to enjoy any suds himself for reasons that were not explained.

Please join me in wishing Outlaw a pleasant flight back, offering him heartfelt thanks once again for protecting us and the Iraqi people, and symbolically hoisting a round to our favorite aviator (there, I said “aviator” – are you happy now Rufus?) as we shout: “welcome home buddy!”

Outlaw was kind enough to pass along a shot that his buddies took of him, just before he left on his last patrol. You can view it, under the fold.

Well, it looks like we’ll have an actual vote this weekend. Hold on tight, people! This is going to be a bumpy ride. Kucinich flipped, which almost cerainly means our Commander in Chief convinced him this bill will lead to Universal Health Care in the U.S. Stupak is still holding out…
