Fighting Fake Dictators At Home While Loving Real Ones Abroad

Over the past year, we’ve been told by the left that any action by their side is excusable, including violently assaulting people in the streets, because Trump is a kinda-sorta-maybe-someday dictator, and therefore must be stopped by any means necessary. Well, I’m not sure I agree with their Machiavellian logic, or their broad-brush generalizations of Trump supporters as white supremacist Nazis, but at least it’s nice to see, after all those years of their defending socialist and Islamofascist dictators, that lefties are actually interested in condemning tyranny.

And along those lines, the Olympics has brought the most tyrannical dictatorship in the world, North Korea, into the spotlight. A golden opportunity for all of us to make a statement against true, unabashed totalitarianism. So since liberals have been so quick to stand up against potential tyranny at home, I’m sure they’ll seriously condemn North Korea for its human rights abuses…

…or they could go that way, too.

In case anyone is unfamiliar with how North Korea treats its citizens, here’s a quick primer:

1) North Korea has actual concentration camps that are as bad as, if not worse than, Nazi death camps.

Hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children are imprisoned and enslaved in these hellholes. The stories told by the few survivors who have managed to escape are horrific. They are beaten, stoned to death, starved, raped, tortured, and mauled by dogs. Sometimes they are forced to kill each other for the amusement of the guards. Prisoners eat rats and insects in order to stay alive. Pregnant women are forced to kill their own babies. About a quarter of the prison population dies every year, either from disease and starvation or execution.

2) While Kim Jong-Un grows ever fatter, his people are starving.

Over 70% of the North Korean population is undernourished or starving. Rather than make sure that his famished subjects are fed, Kim Jong-Un spends a quarter of the nation’s GDP on his military and nuclear arsenal (North Korea has threatened many times to destroy the United States with said arsenal). And the starving citizenry must worry that its already meager rations will be stolen by marauding soldiers, who are given carte blanche to loot as they please. Meanwhile, as most of the country lives in literal darkness without electricity, the pudgy dictator invests more and more money into building resorts and amusement parks for himself.

3) North Korea is the world’s worst oppressor of religious minorities.

About a quarter of a million Christians have gone missing in North Korea over the years, and currently there are around 50,000 languishing in prison camps. Communist countries never have any tolerance for religion, and North Korea is far from an exception to this rule. Christians fare the worst because their faith is considered foreign to Asian culture, so the small community of believers in the country are forced to meet and worship in secret. If they are discovered, they face not only political imprisonment but summary execution, enslavement, torture, and rape. In some cases, Christians have been tossed off bridges, trampled, crushed by steamrollers, and crucified.

4) Kim Jong-Un enjoys creative execution methods.

Along with the methods already described, the crazed despot has also been known to perform executions via anti-aircraft missile. A defector reports that a number of musicians were killed this way. Other “enemies of the state” have been killed by flamethrower or mortar round. Jong-Un had his own brother assassinated with a banned nerve agent and his uncle shot to death by firing squad.

And if you want to know how they treat foreigners, ask the grieving family of Otto Warmbier. You may think it’s harsh to demand visitors not overstay their VISAs, but it’s not quite as evil as torturing them to death for taking down a poster.

So that’s pretty much all of the things that the left claims to be against, on steroids. But liberals are more than willing to forgive and forget all of that, because the dictator’s Head of Propaganda sister gave Mike Pence a nasty look. And we all know that Mike Pence is evil, because shut up, that’s why.

What’s really happening here is that the left is so consumed with anti-Americanism and kneejerk multiculturalism that they will reflexively side with even the most evil foreigner on the planet if they think it will help them combat the only people they truly see as their enemies: other Americans who disagree with them. In the early 20th century, leftists (particularly those in the media) praised Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini. Not much has changed since then, except the names of the dictators they kiss up to: Castro, Saddam Hussein, Hugo Chavez, and now Kim Jong Un and his mass-murdering family. But if a democratically-elected Republican president so much as enforces existing immigration laws or issues a temporary travel ban, they scream “dictator!” as if they actually thought that was a bad thing. They use the false threat of dictatorship to smear their own political opponents, but the truth is that leftists, who glorify both government power and foreign dictatorships, would love nothing more than to have a true dictator in charge of this country. Provided, of course, that it was their dictator.

Just go to Cambodia and visit Tuol Sleng and the killing fields. At the memorial and museum, there is an entire section set up documenting how Time magazine and several other media publications at the time traveled to Cambodia to see if the killings were real. They were duped by the Khmer Rouge through North Korean style controlled tours of the country and in turn reported that the communist, totalitarian s*** hole (as some might call it) was actually a progressive, fun and wonderful place to live. As a result the UN did squat about the millions of murders and the US, already dealing with our own government’s stupidity over Nam, refused to help. The Cambodians who survived and who later created the memorials and museums, clearly place some of the blame for what happened on foreign media for being either too stupid of just dishonest to actually report on what was happening around the country.

This is a very similar thing to the US media continually being duped by North Korean public relations.

    • You know, I didn’t learn anything about the Khmer Rouge in any of my history classes. They all basically taught us that “we pulled our troops out of Vietnam…and that’s all the history that’s worth learning about, until Watergate happened.” I didn’t learn about it until I watched the movie The Killing Fields. I read the reviews of the movie by liberal critics like Roger Ebert and Pauline Kael, and they all blamed the atrocity on Nixon’s bombing of the country. As if the Cambodians were like, “America’s bombing us! That’s it, we’re going to kill millions of our own people in response!”

After that, I did my own research of what happened there, and I realized that it was one of many things that the Left simply doesn’t want us to know about, because it messes with their narrative. How many history books tell us what the Khmer Rouge did, or that they were communists? How many tell us that the “right-wing” Nazis were socialists? How many tell us that the communist Chinese and the communist Soviets both killed more people than Hitler? And God knows I’m not trying to downplay what Hitler did, but if you’re rightfully angry about him, shouldn’t you be even angrier about communists who killed even MORE people than he did?

I’m no psychiatrist, but I imagine there are several, different reasons folks behave this way. My guess is most fall into one of three categories, or some combination of these three:

    1) Greed
    2) Envy
    3) Daddy issues

Greed. A lot of politicians likely fall into this category. They want money and/or power and they’ll jump on any geist that is in the zeit to amass more. Many see the culture lashing out at a racist/homophobic/misogynist bogeyman mostly created by the media and they are simply cravenly riding that wave.

Envy. A lot of entertainers likely fall into this category. There have been too many examples to list, and many have been beyond bizarre, but Marshall Mathers’ parking lot rap throw down aimed at Donald Trump is a great example. It is awful artistically and poorly executed. Yet Mathers appears to have sincerely imagined it would have a tremendous, deleterious impact on Donald Trump’s image while enhancing his own. The exact opposite happened. Mathers has generally been canny about marketing himself and protecting his image, so why would he take such a risk, and why was he so blind to how it appeared? Envy. Mathers is an attention whore and he’s envious of the attention Trump is getting and it impaired his judgement.

A subset of envy is men who rage against those who serve in the military and policemen because they see how women react when a fit man in a uniform is in the room.

Daddy Issues. When you’re staging a hunger strike because your male, Brit Lit professor assigned, “King Lear,” but you’re totally chill with women in Iran being imprisoned for taking their headscarves off you’re not a Feminist. You’ve got daddy issues.

      There’s always

      4) Some people just have an unfortunately low IQ.

We’ve been on such a campaign for the past 50 years that “everyone is equal” that we recoil at the idea now that some people just don’t function at the same level as others.
